Congress Elections

"red rogue wave that they still cannot see coming" lol what?

trump 2016 was an underdog win no doubt.  credit to trump there.

trump 2020 was an unmitigated disaster for team red.  i don't know how you can say differently with a straight face.  incumbent prez gets wiped out, dems win two special elections in georgia to get 50 senate seats?  dems should have never won a senate majority in 2020.  complete own goal by republicans.

midterms are going to be bad for dems.  no one who knows anything about elections finds this surprising.  they will almost certainly lose house and probably senate too.  that's just the way the cookie crumbles.  they should never have had the senate majority in the first place, and the house majority is too slim to survive the normal midterm losses that the incumbent party takes.

getting amped up about this and calling it a "red rogue wave" is hilarious though.  i thought your side was against participation trophies.

Look, i agree on some of those points. I said that same thing 11 months ago.  I could have cared less about the so called ?majority?. Told everyone it would mean nothing?I just like to rub in stuff, my guilty pleasure?

Doesn't matter, a five vote majority in the house coupled with a 50/50 split in the senate will lead to little legislation.  Dems thwarted Trump with less and the Repubs blocked Obama easily.  No major tax hikes, no major re regulation, no major treaties and no Green New Deal...the game goes on.  ;D >:D

AOC insists the Democrats' 'woke problem' is made up by Republicans and critics wanting party to run away from racial justice and voting rights

AOC hit back at Carville's comments after the Democrats' disastrous results
'Wokeness' is a 'term almost exclusively used by older people these days' she wrote on Twitter
'The average audience for people seriously using the word 'woke' in a 2021 political discussion are James Carville and Fox News pundits, she added
Veteran Democrat Carville blamed 'stupid wokeness' for election defeats across the country on Tuesday night
'I mean, this 'defund the police' lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln's name off of schools. I mean that ? people see that,' he said

Smith has taken over the Matrix...

Democrats are Trapped by the Extremism of Their Own Base on Cultural Issues

In the aftermath of their defeat in Virginia, a few, mostly older liberal commentators have begun warning about the Democratic Party?s leftward drift on cultural issues. Some have criticized Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe for his failure to distance himself from the far left on CRT or the transgender bathroom and sports issues that had inflamed parents in Virginia schools.

It is easy to condemn McAuliffe for this choice, but the way he chose to navigate the race highlights a much larger problem for the party than many have understood. The challenge is that given the dynamics he faced within the Democratic electorate, it is unclear what other choice McAuliffe had. In all likelihood, McAuliffe did not decide to adopt his losing strategy thinking it was good. He probably deduced, correctly, that was simply the least bad option. And the alarming fact for Democrats nationwide is that if their least bad option was not good enough to win in a Biden+10 state earlier this month, there are a lot of other places it will not be good enough either.

The more rational members of the party know they need to pivot, they know how to do it, but they nonetheless cannot do so because of the rigid ideological orthodoxy demanded by their base, an extremism that in many cases they themselves have sown. And that is why so many Democratic incumbents are headed for the exits rather than running for reelection. It is not that the situation is bad now and they don?t know how to fix it. It is that it is bad and they know they cannot do the things needed to fix it.

Now this would be funny!!?.

No, Donald Trump Does NOT have to Run for Congress to Become Speaker of the House
There are a lot of scenarios being discussed about Donald Trump's 2022 plans. The best one is not being discussed by many. It should be.

With a Republican majority in the House, they can vote to make United States private citizen Donald J. Trump the Speaker of the House. Few people seem to know this since the Speaker of the House has always been a member of the House of Representatives, but there?s no Constitutional requirement for him to be an active elected official. He simply needs to be elected by a majority of current members of the House of Representatives in order to become second in the line of succession to the presidency.

CNBC: House censures GOP Rep. Paul Gosar over anime video depicting him killing AOC

The House of Representatives censured GOP Rep. Paul Gosar and stripped him of his committee assignments for posting an anime video that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and swinging swords at President Joe Biden.

Only 2 House Republicans voted to censure Paul Gosar over a violent anime video that showed him killing AOC. Another Republican voted present.

Rep. Paul Gosar's Sister Slams Lawmaker's 'Sick Fantasies'

Jennifer Gosar said she was "beyond aghast" at the doctored anime video her brother posted on social media depicting violent acts against Democrats.

Its not the payback that is the problem. Its the horrific video that the congressman put on his twitter account that portrayed him doing something to another congressman. I think last time we remember AOC flying to Texas and raising a lot of money for the people of Texas when they froze and had no energy. While Ted Cruz left Texas to Cancun.

It goes to show Kevin does not have leadership qualities again and again. Even Mark Meadows recently slams Kevin leadership style. (His own party)

TBH - I didnt even know who this guy was before the video. The video was left up for days or weeks. Not a good way to get free publicity.

I hear the talk may possibly be different between the vote and closed doors among Republicans.

You really think he cares, Dems posted worse stuff about Trump......He reposted the same video after the censure... and by the way Kevin will be the Speaker of the House by this time next year (If not Trump) heheheheh ;D ;D >:D

Paul Gosar retweets same video aimed at AOC after House censures him ? report

Again not that many people knew about this guy before the video outside Arizona.
His 10 seconds of fame was short lived.

I still dont what this guy has done. Kind of like the OC republican females that are in congress. What have they done?

We all know what Katie Porter has done!  ;)

Ahhh the sweet sweet taste of revenge. The purge will be profound and painful!

Another retirement spells even more trouble for House Democrats

Suozzi is the 18th Democrat in the House planning to retire or run for higher office in 2022. By contrast, Republicans have only 11 members retiring. For context, at this point in the 2020 election cycle, only eight Democrats had called it quits as compared to 20 Republicans.

Those Hispanics...causin' panics!! How can they vote against their own race?  (because maybe race really has little to do with it)

Hispanic voters shift toward Republicans, now split evenly between both parties: poll

Hispanic voters have for the most part been a Democratic Party stronghold, but a new poll finds the demographic is steadily moving to the right amid President Biden?s widespread unpopularity.

A new poll from The Wall Street Journal found that Hispanic voters are now split between Republicans and Democrats on the generic ballot at 37%. A further 22% responded that they were undecided.

?Latinos are more and more becoming swing voters.? They?re a swing vote that we?re going to have to fight for,?? said John Anzalone, a Democrat and one of the pollsters who contributed to the WSJ survey.

WSJ is owned by Rupert Murdoch News Corp. I dont pay that much attention to that paper.

I remember in college back in the day it used to be well respected.
These days it seems like an arm of Fox News. (It kind of is in away with Rupert Murdoch)

Too late Hill....Smith has sealed your fate!...(I lover her so)...

Hillary Clinton suggests The Squad and progressive Democrats could SINK the party in 2022 midterms because voters want a Congress that can 'get things done'
Hillary Clinton said Democrats needed to think about 'what wins elections'
To hold the House and Senate they will have to win in purple states, she said
Just winning in liberal, blue states will not be enough, she added
Her comments will be seen as criticism of her party's progressive wing

Non-Smithed politicians recognize that if they nuke the filibuster now just to pass one bill they will slit their own throats when they lose the majorities in both houses later this year...they don't want to join the suicide squad for when they have to defend the minority vote...makes sense and smart. ;D ;D >:D

Sinema doubles down on filibuster support, dealing likely fatal blow to Dems' election bills
Sinema is a longtime supporter of the filibuster

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema said Thursday that she will not vote to weaken the Senate's 60-vote filibuster threshold, bucking her party leaders yet again and dealing a major blow to Democrats' election reform effort.

The comments, which match Sinema's long-held stance on the filibuster, are effectively the final nail in the coffin of Democrats' longshot effort to pass two elections bills over unified Senate GOP opposition.

"There's no need for me to restate my longstanding support for the 60-vote threshold to pass legislation. There's no need for me to restate its role in protecting our country from wild reversals of federal policy," Sinema, D-Ariz., said. "This week's harried discussions about Senate rules are but a poor substitute for what I believe could have and should have been a thoughtful public debate at any time over the past year."

Senate Democrats Immediately Use ?Racist? Filibuster After Their Radical Agenda is Defeated

But the corpse of filibuster ?reform? was not even warm when the Democrats were wielding the instrument to block a sanction against a Russian pipeline ? the narrative about the long-forgotten ?Russia hoax? be damned.

?Senate Democrats garnered enough votes Thursday to block a bipartisan bill reimposing sanctions on the Russian pipeline Nord Stream 2 from being sent to the House for consideration,? the Daily Caller?s Thomas Catenacci reported.

?While 55 senators voted in favor of the bill, it failed to surpass the 60-vote threshold required to pass,? the report continued. ?The legislation, the Protecting Europe?s Energy Security Implementation Act, received a floor vote after its sponsor, Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, agreed to release several administration nominations he had blocked over the issue.?

?Thanks to President Biden?s catastrophic surrender and waiving of the mandatory sanctions passed by Congress, (Russian President Vladimir Putin) sees Nord Stream 2 as an alternate route to get his gas to Europe that Ukraine cannot touch,? Cruz said on the Senate floor prior to the vote.

?My point is simpler: The filibuster cannot be an accursed vestige of slavery and Jim Crow when Republicans use it and a perfectly fine (even noble) tool of fairness and democracy when Democrats use it,? Goldberg writes.

?But that?s how the argument works,? the author added. ?In his press conference on Thursday, President Joe Biden said he agrees with his former boss Barack Obama that the filibuster is ?a relic of the Jim Crow era.?

The Democratic Party used that ?relic of the Jim Crow era? the moment it thought it served its purpose. It?s like the party only stands for one thing: Increasing its own power.

AOC announces on Instagram that she's taking a break from Twitter because 'negative comments' gave her 'anxiety' after she was mocked for breaking her own COVID rules to party maskless in Miami where she caught the virus

The New York progressive was heading back to Washington, DC when she invited her 8.5 million Instagram followers to ask her questions
One observant user apparently noticed she had not posted anything on either her personal nor professional Twitter account since at least January 27
'Literally, I would go to open the app and I almost felt like, anxious. People like, kind of fight and gossip, and all this other stuff so much,' Ocasio-Cortez said
She told users on Mark Zuckerberg's app that her departure from Twitter was only a temporary 'break' after it caused her 'anxiety'
