Ocasio-Cortez told reporters on Tuesday she would vote down the measure unless she was provided with 'some new information'
It comes after reports that Biden is considering limits to parts of his $3.5 trillion infrastructure package to keep moderate Democrats and spending hawks happy
Pelosi told Democrats in a private meeting that the $3.5T measure is delayed

Smith has taken control of the Matrix?..

Progressives cheer, moderates groan as Biden visit caps chaotic week

Yet if the goal was party unity, the president seemed to fall short. In the roughly 40-minute closed-door meeting in the Capitol?s cavernous basement, he broke the bad news to moderates that a vote on a bipartisan infrastructure bill would not happen on Friday, as scheduled, eliciting discernible sighs from the centrists in the room.

The development marked a clear victory for the party?s progressive wing, which has demanded that the infrastructure vote be linked directly to a commitment from a pair of Senate centrists ? Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) ? to support a larger package of climate and safety net programs, which stands as the second piece of Biden?s two-part agenda.

Democrats now drop paid family and medical leave from social spending package despite it being a cornerstone of Biden's economic agenda

Democrats reportedly drop paid family and medical leave from spending bill
It followed hectic talks on Wednesday to bring liberals and centrists together
The White House is desperate for a deal to keep the Biden agenda on track
But it appears to have come at the cost of one of his signature campaign policies
And Democrats dropped the idea of a billionaire tax to help pay for it all
Hours after floating the idea of squeezing the country's richest people, the proposal was hurriedly abandoned

"It?s the effing progressives," one moderate Democrat told Fox News. The moderate accused progressives of asking for "unreasonable things."

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., pointed the finger right back at moderate Democrats.

"It seems to me almost every sensible progressive revenue option that the President wants, that the American people want, that I want, seems to be sabotaged," he said.

Desperation, the Orcs turn on each other...I love it...

Report: It wasn't just Joe Manchin who killed the billionaire's tax

Speaker Pelosi is the person whose fingerprints are on the knife that killed this.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sharply faulted the proposal at a caucus meeting earlier this week, according to a Democratic aide who overheard the remarks. This aide told me Pelosi pronounced it a PR stunt that wouldn?t accomplish anything.

?Pelosi absolutely destroyed it,? the aide said.

good strategy too

Funny thing is that when you ask Republican voters what they don't like about CRT, their answer is, "I don't know what CRT is, but I don't like it."

Not true. In the end it will always come down to the pocketbook.  People are naturally selfish (though no one wants to admit it) and it is the things that affect them personally and today that they really focus on. Most of what the Democrats are selling are aspirational and way down the road.

"Dems are spending money!! Omg!!" doesn't drive turnout. Hasn't since before Newt. Trump blew up the deficit more than any Dems. It's all culture war all the time now. Foolproof strategy when a Dem is in office.

Those are cover songs...it's always "the economy, stupid!"

Democrats need a reckoning after misjudging the nation's mood

(CNN)Demoralized Democrats need a reckoning after a rough election night that sent serious warning signs that they have misjudged the nation's mood as their window closes before next year's midterms.

While the party feuds over its vast social spending agenda, Republicans are highlighting issues that preoccupy voters more immediately, like a sluggish economy, high gas prices, expensive groceries, crime rates and concerns about the rights of parents to influence what is taught in schools. Those concerns in many cases have been exacerbated by a prolonged pandemic, which President Joe Biden declared all but over in July but that spiked over the summer in a new blow to an exhausted nation's morale.

Culture war issues of the past had to do mostly with legislating Christian morals:  gay marriage, abortion, transexuals in bathrooms, etc.

Now Dems are framing issues like public education and healthcare as "culture wars", but really these are fundamental issues for most people.  We expect the government to educate children in a non-biased, non-ideological way, just as we expect to have personal control over our own healthcare decisions.

In other words, the culture issues of the past were about Christian conservatives trying to prevent certain types of rights and freedom for others.  The new culture wars are about liberals, progressives, socialists attempting to deny freedom in education and healthcare to others.

I love Smith...they will all drown in a red rogue wave that they still cannot see coming...

AOC says Dem Election Day losses result of running 'fully 100% super moderated campaign'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia gubernatorial election because Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe ran a "100% super moderated campaign" that didn't "energize a progressive base."

"Plus, on the election front. I actually think we have good news as well. I know that Virginia was a huge bummer. And honestly, if anything, I think that the results show the limits of trying to run a fully 100% super moderated campaign that does not excite speak to or energize a progressive base. And frankly, we weren't even really invited to contribute on that race," Ocasio-Cortez said in an Instagram story Wednesday evening, which has since been shared on other social media platforms.

"red rogue wave that they still cannot see coming" lol what?

trump 2016 was an underdog win no doubt.  credit to trump there.

trump 2020 was an unmitigated disaster for team red.  i don't know how you can say differently with a straight face.  incumbent prez gets wiped out, dems win two special elections in georgia to get 50 senate seats?  dems should have never won a senate majority in 2020.  complete own goal by republicans.

midterms are going to be bad for dems.  no one who knows anything about elections finds this surprising.  they will almost certainly lose house and probably senate too.  that's just the way the cookie crumbles.  they should never have had the senate majority in the first place, and the house majority is too slim to survive the normal midterm losses that the incumbent party takes.

getting amped up about this and calling it a "red rogue wave" is hilarious though.  i thought your side was against participation trophies.

Well, more to the point. Anyone expecting some big unified new game changing legislation with a barely held together 50 seats and a narrow house majority is delusional. Biden's term is purely defensive. And only possible because Republicans blew it so hard in 2020.

But yeah yeah Dems in disarray etc
