Tesla Model 3

And unlike Pontiac when they were closed, Pontiac cars can still be serviced at other GM dealers, no such alternative for Tesla.

It?s likely that Tesla will file for bankruptcy but it probably won?t go away.  Perhaps it will go down similar to Fisker, file for bankruptcy and then sold to some Chinese company.

If it does collapse who will follow him into the light?  Cults are funny that way.  As i said in the beginning of this thread, "If you give me a few billion in government money I bet I could come up with some pretty fun ideas too." In the end you have to have a sustainable business plan that can stand on its own without the government funded crutch.

Tesla stock drops as Elon Musk gives bizarre earnings call

Tesla stock dropped more than 5% in after-hours trading as executives cut off Wall Street analysts in an earnings call dubbing their questions on Model 3 gross margins "boring."
CEO Elon Musk took several questions, instead, from Gali Russell, a 25-year-old retail investor in Tesla and Youtuber.

It's interesting to see the Elon mystique finally being pierced.  He's been viewed as one of those guys, like Steve Jobs or Warren Buffett, who can say or do anything and is regarded as a genius for it.  The financial media are just starting to realize how full of crap he really is.

Looks like it's pretty much recovered: https://www.google.com/search?q=NASDAQ:TSLA&e=4112296&tbm=fin&biw=1223&bih=560#scso=uid_2NDwWuaTPMjCjwPjx46ABg_5:0

Elon has pretty much always been divisive in the financial industry, media, and elsewhere since he's been in the public eye. You got the huge legion of fanboys on one side and the haters on the other. Just look at the short interest in the stock now and historically, as well as the tons of very negative and very positive articles on the guy since 2008.

Makes things interesting, not a stock for me though. The car on the other hand, would love to get my hands on a Model 3. Great product. Hope they can figure out how to make a ton of them with a profit.

If not, then it will likely be because someone else is selling a more compelling product.  Consumers win in either case.

I think Elon is kind of losing it...engaging in a public spat with Warren Buffet, of all people, and promising to get into the candy business.  He needs some ADHD meds or something.

Or capital crunch coming...

Tesla is losing top talent and facing a cash crunch at a critical juncture

As Tesla struggles to ramp up Model 3 production, it is embarking on a serious reorganization.
At least 10 senior-level employees have left Tesla since November.
The company has promised it won't need to raise more money outside of its existing credit lines this year.

won't need to raise any more money to pay employees if all their employees leave  ;)

I like Elon's spin on this.  They have decided to 'flatten' the management structure... LOL.

No wonder they're putting so much into the self driving AI.  They're just trying to make sure the car stops in time!  Just a few more bugs to iron out...

Got to love Tesla's answer: "Tesla is uniquely positioned to address more corner cases over time through over-the-air software updates, and it continually does so to improve factors such as stopping distance."

It's ok if my iphone needs a few software updates to run smoothly but my car... no thanks.

Edit
Elon's answer:https://jalopnik.com/elon-musk-says-tesla-model-3-updates-coming-after-consu-1826229233

"Looks like this can be fixed with a firmware update. Will be rolling that out in a few days. With further refinement, we can improve braking distance beyond initial specs. Tesla won?t stop until Model 3 has better braking than any remotely comparable car."

so firmware that is installed OTA can determine how fast the car can brake....sounds like an invitation for hackers to tap in and cause mass mayhem
