No one participating in this thread will convince the other side about trans/queer/lgbt+ being a mental illness or not. I used to wonder about that but witnessing children grow from birth to adulthood among my friends/relatives without any type of external pressure it does not seem like it to me.

Blindly accept our side, said out of love, isn't accepting of fact. You are correct, that both sides of this question are firmly entrenched, but it can still be rationally discussed. As a note I've not included queer or lgb+ in any discussion about mental illness. These are separate questions unrelated for the most part from gender dysphoria.

Curious, do you find it acceptable for children to earnestly believe in Santa? (Most do. It's harmless.) Do you find it acceptable for a 40 year old to earnestly believe in Santa? (Most don't) Would "Buddy The Elf", full costume, same mannerisms be an appropriate personality working at the desk next to you? (Probably not) How about the serial rapist in prison who has "discovered" he has always been a female, only to be transferred to a woman 's prison - a "target rich environment" (There are many who have done this ). Do we accept and acknowledge their new identity? If not, why not? You can't blindly disrespect their choices now can you?

You see where this eventually ends. That's why this President is doing what's possible to reinforce objective truth: that no amount of surgery or drugs will ever turn a man into a woman, or a woman into a man. There are only two sexes, and gender identity is an artificial construct. What affirmation and or acceptance does is temporary sooth the troubled mind only to wear off quickly, and often turn into a tragedy. Love should do everything possible to keep this from happening in a factual, truth guided, science proven method

I do but maybe for different reasons than you think. This is an excerpt from my January 1 2025 letter to my clients….its why we were short the markets in the first quarter….Weak markets are the reckoning for Brandon’s reckless spending and government hiring…

“Just like 1981, we have a new Administration coming into power with a decidedly business oriented direction for economic growth. But just as trees do not grow the sky, this cycle cannot move along without recognition of the recessionary forces that we have been in for the last 2 years. (yes, even as markets moved higher) Again, I will preface that these comments are NOT to be interpreted as political, just a reading of the information the Public has been fed is important for CONTEXT. One of the underlying gripes that current Presidential race has backlighted is the disconnect between what the economic (government) statistics say and what the public perceives and feels about the economy. Democrats kept pointing to positive economic indicators (GDP Unemployment, Job creation and wages) as proof that the economy is growing but could never understand why the electorate did not agree. The headline numbers always looked so good but months latter, (when no one was paying attention anymore to last months numbers) they were quietly revised down with little fanfare or attention. Markets reacted to the initial numbers and chose to ignore most of the negative revisions that hinted at a truly weak economy. Any gains in these statistics were really driven by MASSIVE government spending and largesse and not private sector investment and hiring. It’s not hard to see why the statistics and people on the ground tell a very different story.
I think a reckoning of where the economy has really been is in the makings. That means near term volatility while the system digests the reality of our past recession.”

To prove your points you are speaking of edge cases or extremes.

There is a slippery slope in everything you mention.

Let's take more general cases... for example, we have a member whose job is financial investing but due to his political leanings, he can't admit the fact that the biggest affect on the stock market right now is tariffs. That's like believing in Santa Claus.

Or another member who can't cite actual social media posts from any other president filled with the hate and name calling that Trump did on Easter and instead blames Democrat (and only Democrat presidents) for such behavior. That can be seen as mental illness.

Why would queer/lgbt+ be separate from trans? They are all in the realm of gender identity.

Again... there isn't enough evidence to prove it's mental illness... based on my real life observations and what I've read... if that's your definition of a mental illness... then everyone has some form of mental illness.

Economists have accurately predicted 15 out of the last 4 recessions…Reread what I wrote. Tariffs may be used as the excuse but the cause is as I outlined. In the end all these countries will cave, including Jina…load up like I told you on the pullback and any others in the near future…by the end of the year you (and I) will be richer…easy money and I won’t even charge you for that… 💰

(DCNF)—Workers throughout China are flooding the streets in revolt as U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs slam the fragile Chinese export economy.

From the cramped streets of Sichuan in the southwest to the cold outskirts of Inner Mongolia in the northeast, furious workers are demanding back pay and protesting mass layoffs as factories shutter under pressure from Trump’s tariffs.

Outside a LED light manufacturing plant near Shanghai, thousands of unpaid workers shouted furiously at company managers over wages that haven’t been paid since January.

In central China’s Dao County, a similar scene unfolded outside a sporting goods store after the company abruptly shut down last week without paying employees.

It’s 100 days and we’re right in the middle of everything. And yet, people are already talking about President Donald Trump as if he’s failed or there’s an obituary. Nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t listen to the libertarian right or the “Never Trump” right or the hard left. What’s happening is we’re watching the most dramatic counterrevolution in our history.

This is more fundamentally changing than even the Reagan revolution that rebooted the American economy and won the Cold War. And it’s even more—I don’t know—more fundamentally transformative than the Roosevelt first 100 days when he took the country hard left with the New Deal.

And what do I mean by that? Everything is in play and we have no idea how it’s gonna happen—it’s going to turn out or what will happen. But it could be what Donald Trump called “a golden age.”

And most importantly, and finally, there’s about five or six entities with whom we run the trade deficit that account in aggregate for about 90% of the $1.2 trillion that we are in deficit. And if Donald Trump gets a deal—and I think there’s a 50-50 chance in the next month he will—with the EU, with Canada, with Mexico, with the ASEAN or the Southeast Asian nations, with Germany, part of the EU, with South Korea—there’s not a lot of them.

And once one deal starts to unfold, the others will follow. And because the fundamental economic indicators of job growth, inflation, corporate profits, energy prices are sound, there’ll be a little bit of disruption as we reboot with these trade deals. But they’re going to do two things: They’re gonna bring in a lot of foreign investment of these countries that wanna avoid another trade war, and they’ll find it’s—I don’t know—useful. And there’s efficacy in putting plants in the United States. That’s already happening. And more importantly, we will not be sending out $1.2 trillion.

What am I getting at? All of the hysteria I think is prompted or fueled by—I’ll say it—I think it’s fueled by fear. I really think they have no alternative to addressing the debt, the budget deficit, the trade deficit. And there’s only one pathway.

And whether you like Donald Trump or not, or you think he’s crude, he is embracing policies that in bygone days both Democrats and Republicans saw was the solution. And the Democrats are terrified that it is not only the viable solution, but it’s gonna work

SANITY! HHS Recommends Therapy for Minors With Gender Dysphoria

Children who believe their gender is different from their biological sex should receive therapy for gender dysphoria (GD), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said on May 1.

“Psychotherapy is a noninvasive alternative to endocrine and surgical interventions for the treatment of pediatric gender dysphoria. Systematic reviews of evidence have found no evidence of adverse effects of psychotherapy in this context,” a 409-page report from HHS states.

Who said I believe them?…I posted that source cause you believe them. I don’t tell trans people anything…If jack wants to put on a tube top and call himself Sally power to him. That’s his problem, not mine. Just don’t expect me to buy into his delusion.
