Sterling has always been an idiot.

Just because I'm a Clip fan doesn't mean I support the stupid views of the owner.

I think qwerchete eats at Chick-Fil-A, does that mean he's a homophobe*?

*Hyperbole back at ya!

Way to go Sterling!  What an idiot.  And yes haters will always be hatin! :)
Been listening to ESPN 710 radio with Willard and Thompson this morning about this and it's very interesting.

1. Stephen A is asking all the fans to boycott the game on Tuesday, yet he won't because he *needs* to work (shouldn't EVERYONE boycott, not just the fans?).

2. Magic and Marcellus Wiley will not be there... but I'm pretty sure they don't have to pay for their seats and even if, they can afford to not go.

3. Does anyone think Sterling is the only "racist" owner in the NBA?

4. While no one likes Sterling's comments, we have to remember that they were supposed to be private. I'm sure all of us have said things in private that we don't want on TMZ, especially if it affects our livelihood.

5. Which brings up another thing, there is conjecture that his girlfriend purposely created this situation because Sterling's wife is suing her for property Sterling gave her.

6. Most likely, Sterling will be fined and suspended, but I think it's the NBA and the Players Assoc that will have to force him to retire or give up ownership. The fans can't do that. And even so, it would set a bad precedence if the NBA had enough power to remove someone's ownership. This has to be handled carefully and I doubt this is going to easy.

7. Sterling was supposed to receive his 2nd NAACP award on May 15, that has been rescinded.

8. Turns out there were some previous issues with Sterling and discrimination against tenants in his apartment buildings (it wasn't just race, evidently he doesn't like families with children either). Yet, where was the outrage then? Why did players still sign with the Clippers? CP3 wanted to be there after Stern kiboshed the Laker deal. Doc Rivers wanted to be the Clips coach.

9. Lakers announcer John Ireland called in and said this best... the Clippers are NOT Sterling. There are way many more people who are important to how the Clips are run and that Sterling is not what the Clips are about. Everyone (esp qwerchete :) ) has to remember that.

Best case scenario, Donald Bren buys out Sterling, builds a stadium in The Great Park and renames the Clippers to the Irvine FCBs.

Stern is probably not the only racist owner but the only one stupid enough to get caught.

There is an audio recording which makes things much different. With the previous discrimination lawsuit it's a he said she said and a lot of times things are settled cause it's cheaper than going to court.

The guy is a true racist. Sure we all say things in public. I put down all races but ultimately I know I'm not racist. This guy is definitely racist.

Regardless of the girlfriends intentions she got him on tape expressing his true feelings.

The nba is a joint venture, not sure if the owners would put a mechanism in place that would allow other owners to force them to kick them out but perhaps we will find out. It's a club of 30 rich guys, my guess is there is a way to force a sale. Didn't baseball force Madge Schott to sell? Can't remember.

Let's be realistic, money is money. There are only 30 teams that will pay you millions of dollars. If play for the president of the KKK if it meant I could play ball for 10 years and earn 100 million.  I'm not going to blame anyone who takes their money. I think the fans can make a stand though. I've thought about buying those 5-6 game packages the clippers offer but after this I wouldn't buy a package till he no longer owns the team. I would still watch clipper games though.

I heard the Ireland call you mention, I actually audited the clippers early in my career. The offices are at staples. The people were friendly and they said sterling was never around. So he is right about that.

The odd thing in all this is that his girlfriend is half black half mexican and looks more black than Mexican and these are the same people he doesn't like.

Who cares - move on. Don't let someone's remark change/bother/ruin your life. People make mistakes. What if he was drunk or high - who knows.

I understand this is a big issue but you can tell that some of the motivation behind the complaints is Laker biased.

ESPN 710, the official Lakers radio station, is running ads saying "the Clipper season is tarnished"... come on... are you saying that what they did, their best season ever, now doesn't have the same relevance because of what their stupid owner said? Sterling tarnishes his own reputation, not the Clippers, not the players, not the coaches, not anyone who works for the organization.

There's talk of changing their team name, callers suggesting CP3 and Blake asking for a trade after the season etc etc. Laker fans are even saying that it's karma because they "stole" CP3 from the Lakers.

And of course, Mark Jackson is telling Clipper fans not to show up tomorrow. There isn't a bit of selfish reasoning there?

Sterling is an idiot. I hope he loses his ownership and deserves all the flak he gets... but that doesn't make me think any less of the Clippers. It's like how I dislike Kobe but I still consider myself a Lakers fan. Funny how Kobe can be an adulterer, gets accused of rape, yet he's still the greatest Laker to many.

Still hoping some OC group buys out Sterling and moves the Clips to Honda Center. :)

Lifetime ban from anything NBA related, $2.5m fine (maximum) and a motion to force him to sell the Clips (requires 3/4th approval from other 29 owners).

Someone loan me some money.

Save your money for an Irvine 3CWG house.  There's already a rich group up north eager to buy.  :P

Jamal Crawford would love to move to Seattle.

CP3 and Blake... not so sure.

How about this... CP3, Blake and DJ join the Lakers? Don't they need a PG, PF and C?

i wonder if homer can raise enough money to buy the clippers?  i have dibs on GM duties!

Don't you want to manage the cheerleaders?  Just think how challenge it must be to conduct the auditions. :)

you are absolutely right.  i renounce my rights to the GM position and have appointed myself as the overseer of the clipperettes.  someone has to do the heavy lifting :-)

This is a win for the Clips... to finally get rid of Sterling. He was the one who held them back for so long, not wanting to sign his stars to long term contracts... I was actually surprised they extended Blake and DJ... and resigned CP3.

How ironic would it be if Magic Johnson ended up part of the new ownership group?

Hopefully the Clips can regain their focus and win tonight... just don't play Big Baby. I have no idea why Doc puts him in over Ryan Hollins, he can't even rebound anymore.
