How much does the Irvine Company hate this site?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Irvine Renter - When you need to call someone and tell him to meet you under the bridge, and to come alone, don't call someone with kids. I've seen the movies. I don't have kids; call me instead.

I've often wondered how many of the posters on this blog are trolls for Bren. Certain times, odd questions have been asked and it caught my attention.... not sure....but suspicious.

Maybe we should hire Troop to moonlight as security for IHB. She could check W2's at the door, any TIC slips would be turned around and sent to this blog:

http://www.ocrealestateblog.com/

Would you be surprised to learn that someone at the behest of the Irvine Company used to read every post on the blog and in the forum, and this went on for several months? (It may still be going on.)

BTW, you will find very little personal information about me in either source, and much of what I have written about myself is complete fabrication to throw off their profiler...

Let's really screw with them... make up a bunch of "I am IrvineRenter" bumperstickers (with no web address for legal reasons) and plaster them on the cars in the TIC parking lot.

Hah. IrvineRenter is secretly a girl!!!

Really flattering that they have read every post. So the legal anecdotes of Lawyerliz in Florida are being read by some poor slob in Irvine? With the info I've posted, they maybe could track me down. Don't worry IR, I won't spill my guts no matter how they torture me!!! Not that I know anything. . . .

Again, I pose an honest question, why would the Irvine Company care about what's posted on this blog? This company no longer builds homes, and it's primary focus is to rent apartments, lease commercial space, and operates resorts. Yes, they develop lots to sell to merchant builders and yes it was profitable, but it is nowhere near a core business. Holding the land costs them nothing as they own it outright and paid for the improvements with their own cash.

I agree, Bren is an advocate of the OC and doesn't like negative press about the housing downturn, however, all major media outlets and prominent blogs (i.e. cr) have reported news just as negative as IHB. Why would he care about a city specific blog that restates a lot of what CR and the national media writes and reports on mispriced houses (obviously a phenomenon not just limited to Irvine)?

or am I missing the point, is this just a forum to bash a the irvine company simply because we all rent or have rented from them (i fall in that boat too)? Someone, PLEASE, enlighten me.

Wow, some people are paranoid AND egotistical beyond belief. Although I must say, if people know you have money, they will pester, wheedle, and worm there way to trying to get some of your hard earned money. I'm only worth a few less than a few pennies compared the owner of TIC.

On a side note, i've heard that TIC maybe selling the company..... Its just an ugly rumor though.

good luck

-bix

Is jcaraway the poor slob forced to read Lawyerliz's musings for TIC? Not to mention IR, and everybody else?

Who is John Galt?

Who is J Caraway?

Hummmmmm.

Jcaraway seems to be a local. He knows the area. But his posts seem to say something he is not saying directly. He may be TIC shill IMHO. He sure is not one of the usual bears in reading his posts. Seems out of place.

Big corporations constantly monitor "blog talks" and "participate" in blog discussion, especially finanical related for public traded companies. I will be shocked if Irvine company doesn't monitor this blog and/or participate on the discussion here.

As a homeowner in irvine, I think the best thing can happen is having the Irvine company. It is POSSIBLY the last and only defense of home value here. I know many of your will start to throw darts at me. But that is what I believe.

The reality is that the home value in irvine will continue to decrease, however if Irvine company stands on their landprice, at least it will help control the inventory. Just look at VOC: it is the builder who is leadiong the steap dive of prices, not the foreclosures.

Even if irvine company stands on their landprice, it is likely still not enough to prevent the continuing price depreciation. But at least there is a slim possibility of making this a little less pain

Only time will tell.

I can't think about any down side of having Irvine Company as a home owner, can any of you??

I don't work for Irvine Company either as an employee, contractor, or consultant. I don't even know anyone who works for the Irvine company. I am just a homeowner who treats my house just a house while at the same time doesn't want to see the value to drop another x%.

I have a different take. TIC is the one that causes the run up in the first place that forces everyone to overpay because of their monopoly. It's not like they do that for the good of everyone. How about keeping prices reasonable when they were going up like crazy?

The rise in prices had nothing to do with TIC, but the easy credit and demand did. At worst, TIC took advanatage by allowing more land to be developed and making a healthy profit in the process.

In the end, TIC is a business, and like all other businesses the sole reason for their existence is to trade you something they have for your money at the greatest profit possible. They have a vested interest in keeping the City of Irvine in a specific socio-economic strata because it makes what they have to sell more valuable, and it's only incidentally that this benefits those who own property in Irvine. It's not evil or greedy, it's just business.

For the record, I am not IrvineRenter, but I met him once. Unfortunately for TIC, my memory is shot from a mis-spent youth and I can no longer remember what he looks like. I can, however, tell you what cayci's butt looks like. Odd that.
