Crime Soars After Democrats Smear Police, Cut Budgets

Canadians are very polite protesters as long as it doesn't involve one of their teams losing the Stanley Cup... then all bets are off.

Homicide Is Pandemic?s Biggest Killer of Young Black Men
While Covid-19 drove up death rates for all Americans, the steep rise in murder was a much more dangerous plague for this group.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a big increase in murder and manslaughter (aka homicide) in the U.S. By the accounting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the homicide rate went from 5.8 per 100,000 Americans in 2019 to 7.5 in 2020.

Who suffers when the homicide rate goes up like that? Black Americans, mainly.

In 2020 those identifying or identified as Black or African American made up 13.5% of the U.S. population, according to CDC estimates. They also made up 55.6% of the homicide victims, and 65.6% of the increase in homicides relative to 2019. To put it another way, the homicide rate for Black Americans rose from 22.9 per 100,000 in 2019 to 30.7 in 2020. For all other Americans, the rate went from 3.2 to 3.8.

It also doesn?t neatly slot into the debate since mid-2020 over crime and the role of police. According to the Mapping Police Violence project, police killed 249 Black Americans in 2020, which amounts to just 1.8% of the year?s 13,654 Black homicide victims. But if police presence reduces violent crime, and the evidence that it does is reasonably strong, then the lack of police poses far greater risks to Black men in their teens through early 40s than the police do.

Citing crime concerns, Amazon pulls workers from office at former Macy?s in downtown Seattle

In downtown Seattle?s commercial core, retail workers have doubled as first responders, doormen have been deployed to keep unwelcome visitors out and some buildings are still sitting empty as employers worry about the safety of workers and customers.

Amazon is the latest company to react.

It is temporarily moving workers from its space in the building at Third Avenue and Pine Street that until 2019 held the downtown Macy?s store, a spokesperson for the company said Friday. The office?s 1,800 employees have been working remotely during the pandemic; rather than returning to the desks they left over two years ago, workers will move to other locations in South Lake Union. Remote work is still an option for Amazon employees.

?Given recent incidents near 3rd and Pine, we?re providing employees currently at that location with alternative office space elsewhere,? the spokesperson said in an emailed statement. ?We are hopeful that conditions will improve and that we will be able to bring employees back to this location when it is safe to do so.?

Amazon moved into the 312,000-square-foot location in 2017, taking over the top six floors of the old Macy?s building. The office at 300 Pine St. is about a half-mile from the company?s headquarters on Seventh Avenue.

Since Feb. 21, there have been at least three shootings, two stabbings and one carjacking in the area, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Just a hilarious headline...Common sense makes a comeback... ;D ;D >:D

The poll results are in and the award for stupidest political slogan in American history goes to 'Defund the Police.' Democrats come claim your prize ? a humiliating election defeat!

You remember 'Defund the police'? Of course, you do. How could you possibly forget?

It is right up there with John Kerry's infamous 'I voted for it, before I voted against it,' which is credited in no small part to putting the nail in the coffin of his extremely forgettable 2004 run for president.

To be honest, the first time I heard 'Defund the Police,' I didn't understand what it meant. But that's because no one really did.

Some said it meant 're-envisioning the police' while others said, yes, literally it means we don't want a police force to exist anymore.

It was kind of like political astrology.

I interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris on-air at my former job immediately after that city council vote and she didn't condemn it.

I asked her, in part, 'Do you support defunding and removing police from American communities?'

In response, she unleashed ? what we've come to expect from her ? nearly impenetrable word salad.

'We have confused the idea that to create safety you put more cops on the street instead of understanding that to achieve safe and healthy communities you put more resources into the public education systems of those communities, into affordable housing and into home ownership, into access to capital for small businesses, access to health care regardless to how much money people have? You know in many cities in America, nearly one-third of their budgets go to the police, so we have to have this conversation. What are we doing? What about the money going to social services, what about the money going to job training?'

Exactly so, Kaos.  The Welfare State has been a miserable failure since LBJ introduced it decades ago with the crack to his crony, "I'll have them niggers voting Democrat for the next two hundred years."

His welfare state consigned black families to squalor, misery, hopelessness, and crime.
"Poor people have been voting Democrat for fifty years and they're still poor." - Sir Charles Barkley

Even self-proclaimed liberals and progressives are at their wits' end when it comes to crime and homelessness.  They control all levels of government and have now, embarrassingly, recalled three school board members and a city DA.... with more to come in other cities.

San Francisco votes overwhelmingly to recall progressive DA Chesa Boudin

Partial results from the San Francisco Department of Elections on Tuesday night showed the recall measure ? also known as Proposition H ? had the support of nearly 60% of voters, with 40% voting against it.

It?s not just San Fran, saw a post from my cousin back in the Midwest complaining that she watched a pair walk out of a TJ MaxX after piling the cart with purses and other accessories and the staff just watch them walk out the front door.  Didn?t even call the police and told her the same thing they say in San Fran, the police won?t come anyway.

San Francisco DA Announces Innovative New Plan To Arrest People For Breaking The Law

SAN FRANCISCO, CA ? San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced a bold new direction for the DA's office Friday when she put forward an innovative new plan to arrest people who break the law.

"This may seem like a radical idea," began Jenkins, "but I think that if someone breaks the law we should prosecute them and throw them in prison so they can no longer harm others."

Legislators have voiced support for the district attorney's office, calling the idea an incredible breakthrough for the criminal justice system.

The death of downtown: San Francisco, Cleveland and Portland have seen activity drop by almost 50 percent - as soaring crime in the Democrat-run cities forces workers, tourists and homeowners away

Between the increase in crime (and crime going unpunished) and the increase in regulations/taxes, I can totally understand why businesses and people are leaving to go to other states.

Add to those insanities the cost of houses, governor gruesome, idiotic legislature abusing children with their edicts......  It all adds up to a witch's brew.

So you deny your poor population education and you expect crime to?go down?
