2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

Or if you want a 7" Android ICS tablet for the kids:

The price is good... I believe it only has 1GB of memory but I think that's good enough. I like that they'll have kid games pre-loaded and then a kid library where you can download other games.

The browser is also kid-safe... and at $129, it's better than the 3DS or an iPod.

Hopefully it's a capacitive screen for easier use by kids.

C|Net also confirms the new iPadHD moniker:

BGR reports the new iPad will go on sale March 16:

And fueling the rumors of the iPad being 4G LTE capable, Verizon is teasing "something":

One more day! Hit up the blogs for live coverage at 10am tomorrow (if you can).

2048x 1536 res on new iPad, how does that compare to competitors?

New chip in iPad, same camera as 4s

Android doesn't even have 1920x1080 tablets out yet... they've been shown, but none are for sale.

A5X chip... I noticed the slide said quad-core "graphics"... not necessarily CPU.

And 4G LTE... bazoom.

"fastest international rollout ever", wonder how many Chinese lives were used to beat the deadline.

I've got to wonder if they'll be coming out with a new iOS version that has multi-tasking.  With the A5X, it surely can handle true multi-tasking.  All that horsepower can't be to just run the higher res screen.

The CPU is dual core... it's the GPU that is quad core.

And as said previously... iOS (and Android) does support multi-tasking... in the form of background processing. It's up to the developers (with Apple's okay) to implement it.

Impressive... not a surprise that Apple brought the eye candy... more of the same-old, same-old; now it's confirmed the Jobs legacy is running out for sure; at least, this gives Android a target to beat, which should be around late 2nd or 3rd Quarter...

In addition to those fine Android Tabs... how does $120 (wholesale) sound; Retail maybe $200-$250 Max...?

So you're saying an Android tablet coming out 3-6 months later is going to have better specs and beat "The New iPad" sales in head-to-head comparison?

I think Jobs' legacy is just going to keep on keeping on.

The only thing we know of is the Transformer Infinity but that still has lower resolution (1920x1200(?)) and probably an April release. Supposedly Sammy has a 2500ishx1600 tablet coming out too... but we all know how long their Galaxy anythings takes to get to the US.

I think a $199 Google Nexus 7" has the only chance of competing sales-wise... but that's a different class of tablet.
