Heh... I think based on previous winners, they say the random "quick pick" has won the most jackpots so I go with the odds. Occasionally, if I have time, I'll pick my lucky numbers. I haven't personally played Lotto in quite a while but this next draw I'm going to bust the "8" theory out and see how it does.

There is no best way of picking since it's a random event. However, if you pick common "lucky" numbers the odds of sharing the price increase dramatically. Then again, it's still better to win and share than not to win at all. I've heard a bunch of "theories" on what picking strategy is best. My favorite is the claim that since the lottery is a random event, letting the machine pick will guarantee a better randomness to your numbers. Other people swear by the fact that if you play the same number over and over your odds increase over time. I've picked 1 2 3 4 5 + 6 and called a fool cause that kind of pattern wasn't random enough. Whatever floats your boat is fine when it comes to lottery.

I have collected 10 years worth of MEGA LOTTO numbers. The stat. analysis does show a consisent pattern with a band error of 3 numbers. I'm afraid though that it just isn't quite bit enought to be a consistent winner.

Likely variance due to the smallish sample size. In poker, the standard is 50K hands to get a true baseline and take out the noise (!).

SCMan is probably the winner of the "give everyone a reason to be a post whore" contest. I guess now that he posted his lottery wish list, he'd better start posting a lot more, we have it in writing. I really wish I believed he was going to win, but you'd see lots of crazy a** posts from me if I did. I am in good standing. He will pay off my mortgage and buys me another house. The rate that he has been posting I might just fall behind in post count and just end up with paying off my mortgage which I will be more than grateful and not to get too greedy here.

Many of the older nice homes in Floral Park and Park Santiago don't have air. Ours didn't have air when we bought it over 5 years ago. I've pretty much determined that older people are much tougher and not as spoiled as me because they seem to tolerate the heat and they don't mind. I lived through one summer with a wall unit in the family room and a window unit in the bedroom before I'd had enough. My AC runs most of the time during the summer. Growing up in Costa Mesa has a bit to do with it also.

I am not sure if I am the old person or the wimp in this story. This is our 3rd summer without air and honestly most of the time I dont mind, except there are usually 2 oe 3 weeks where its just too hot to sleep well without air.We are lucky that the house has good cross ventilation. **shakes walker and passes out geritol**

Yes, the standard approved population for this size is 15,000 samples, i only have about 1200, nowhere near enough.

That is with the 99% confidence level. With a 95% it drops significantly, but i'm still many times too small of a population. As for any one strategy, well, the odds are so long, pretty much almost anything is better than none.

The biggest leap though is to play.

Don't play = infinitely no change of winning.

Play 1 = WAY better than infinitely none... :lol:

(but still prety minute)

whats the maintenance on a house like that? i know people who spend ~50k a yr on the maintenance of a house about half that size and on a few acres of land. multiple by 2 or 3 times, and the maintenance costs over a lifetime would eat up a good chunk of the winnings!

That's why, what you really want is to be hired to caretake that house ie. get the lifestyle 98% of the time when the owners aren't there and get paid for it :)
