bk's poll is interesting...

http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/forums/viewthread/4236/

... the winning choice so far is people would rather have a 2.75 garage than extra parking space or extra room in the house.

Garages rule!!

You might want to come up with a new term. The connotations of "alley" are very negative. Just a marketing idea.

Great idea!! I will dead end the motorcourt after 150' about 5 houses deep and put a basket ball hoop at the end so kids can play there as well. It also minimizes the unwanted through traffic.

I like "community driveway."

If you use your IAC garage as storage you will receive a knock on the door from me. Please feel free to park your cars in the grocery store parking lot across the street, NOT in the resident parking areas.

What if they had a pool table in their garage space? My 1st floor neighbor actually had a pool table in their garage, and the IAC apartment staff did jack squat even when notified of it.

that's ridiculous. There is a what can only be described as a homeless looking grizzly adams man who hunts in the garbage for soda cans in my apt complex. He is actually a tenant. He has no job other than rummaging through the garbage looking for "treasures." He has TWO vehicles. One is an 90's model white chevy pickup with a LEER hardcap over the bed. Inside is about 20 hefty "lawn&leaf;" sized bags stuffed to the gills with cans and bottles.

His OTHER vehicle looks like something out of a jeepers creepers horror film. It is a very old green colored station wagon that is severly bent and looks unusable. It is ALSO stuffed to capacity with garbage bags. His garage is also FULL OF GARBAGE!!! He wakes up in the AM and tries to start that station wagon thing 50 times and it finally starts. He then moves it around to different places so that it "looks like its a normal car." Right buddy, no one will notice your insanely old decepit shit-filled station wagon.

Everytime I come home and see his two garbage-mobiles taking up spots I get enraged. Oh and this old buzzard has FOUR dogs. FOUR! In an apartment.

The insanity must end.....

That story alone justifies an ownership premium. Sorry, IrvineRenter, 200 GRM FTW!

I don't know...nutjobs can own houses, too. Then you are really stuck with them.

Yeah, bad neighbors were the reason we sold our house in 2006. We were really sad to move, but all the free money we got out of the sale has made it not so bad.

Another classic garage dominant house. I can't even find the front door. Luckily this house is on the corner lot. I can't even imagine how tight for the rest of the homes are in order to find the front door.
