What do you use your garage for?

Most likely the case. In LA county the rule is something like you can't park an RV on the same street for more than 2 days per month. Technically you could move it every 2 days...83rd st, 84th st, 85th st, etc. Of course the reality is in LA county few people care enough to do this and enforcement isn't common.

Since there's no HOAs, it lets you drain your ice chest anywhere you want... or so you can make a u-turn with your RV.

I actually don't mind the no-curb look that much... it's like one HUGE driveway. (bk just felt a tingle on the back of his neck)

It was not a tingle. It was a massive artery burst.

We talked about that... regardless of earthquake rigidity... I hate that center post.

1. It's a pain for backing out.

2. If you want to park a car in the middle of the two-car area... you can't.

3. If you want to bring something big into or out of the garage... you can't.

4. I actually don't really like that look.

Now if that center one was expanded to a 2-car garage opening and thus resulting in a 4-car garage... I'm more open to that... hehe.

I see that you have acquired some aesthetic taste. Pretty soon Aesthetic=function.

Interesting. This Oak Creek home has two 1-car garages. I can't decide if I like this or not.

There are quite a few of those in QH.

Personally... I don't like them. It takes away from the functionality of a garage:

1. Can't park the Hummer (I'm talking the original... not the mini H3).

2. Usually one of those doesn't have direct access to the house (so will end up being mine).

3. No poker parties (<-- that one is for bk).

I guess I should have made this thread into a poll.

I was curious and pulled up the floor plan. Weird - they both have direct access to the house. I like the detached "casita" too and the fireplace in the courtyard is a nice option. I wonder if this floor plan exists anywhere but Oak Creek. Oh well.

I really don't like one car garages even if both have direct access. Just seems like a waste of space; more bang for you buck by combining the space. I do like the courtyard and casita option on the floorplan. Maybe just combine the garages and move the casita to the side of the home to create the courtyard with fireplace. That would be more appealing to me.

I mentioned to IHO at the last meet up, that when I saw this home, I thought of him.

Not only does it come with a 3 car garage...

It comes with 5 more...

http://media.cdn-redfin.com/photo/46/bigphoto/445/P645445_2_1.jpg

And look at the extra manliness in the back...

I was going to tell him to set his sights on N. Tustin, but then I saw this, and I just couldn't picture him with a long beard, smoking a pipe, and contemplating if Steinbeck's chauvinistic ways were due to his issues with his mother.

Maybe Ipo, but not IHO.

The Garages of Wrath by Steinbeck is my favorite book.

I also enjoyed reading Steinbeck's "Tornilla" Flat.

This is where the garage should be. IHO's obscene activities in the garage are out of sight!

Anyone knows about this infamous garage? Any guess?

Here is Steinbeck's house in Key West. Mrs BK loves his house. We toured his house 6 years ago. He raised a 6 claw cat and now the neighborhoods are full of 6 claw cats. He loved and died in Cuba and has a mistress there while his wife lived in Key West. He did not like his wife's decor when she took out the ceiling fan and replaced it with glass chandeliers in the bedrooms. The chandeliers in bedrooms was the inspiration for Rachel Ashwell when she started her Shabby Chic. Anyone a big fan of Jimmy Buffett?
