You can rent it from RedBox on DVD for $1.20 (or BluRay for $1.50)... BluRay is better quality than PPV.SoCal said:Did anyone here see "Dallas Buyers Club"? I'd really like to see it. It's available on Pay Per View on Dish for $6 but I'm too much of a tightwad to allow myself to buy it. I will wait until it's free.

Oh, really?? That's cool. Well, I do have plans to be at a store today that has a RedBox. I've never used a RedBox, though. How does this newfangled thing work? I need a RedBox lesson, stuck in the 19th century. Help me, Iho. My Amish township does not have such a RedBox. I will take the wagon into town. A) How do we know it is inside that box? Somebody once told me there was a very, very limited selection. B) How do we know how much it costs? Are all movies the same? C) How long is the rental good for? D) Where do I put it when I'm done? E) Are there any drive-through Redboxes?
Yes... usually new and popular titles. But I know that Dallas Buyer's Club is on most machines. You can search specific Redbox units at redbox.com or download the app on your AmishPhone.SoCal said:A) How do we know it is inside that box? The price difference is by media not title... DVDs are $1.20, BluRays are $1.50.B) How do we know how much it costs? Are all movies the same?
Until 9pm the next day. If you don't return it by 9pm, it will charge you the same rate each day.C) How long is the rental good for?
The same slot you get them from, but you press "Return" instead of "Rent" and it will instruct you to put the disc back.D) Where do I put it when I'm done?
Not that I know of. They are mostly in grocery stores.E) Are there any drive-through Redboxes?
qwerty said:i used redbox once, during the gap when we moved here, but directv was not reinstalled yet. its pretty easy, just scroll through the movies they have on hand, select one, put in your credit card and you are done. the selection is limited, mostly new/newer releases, it cost about $1 day, it will tell you on the screen, you rent it by the day so 4 days is $4, you but it back in the redbox when you are done, no drive thrus that im aware of.

Nope.SoCal said:Credit card?? You mean you can't feed dollars into it? Weird. Where is the dollar and coin slot?

The reason why you have to use a credit card is because if you don't return it, they can auto-charge you for each day. And if you never return it, they charge for the disc (~$25 for DVD, ~$35 for BD and ~$60 for games).
The cool thing is you can return it to any Redbox, so you don't have to take it back the specific unit you rented from.
