Attractiveness isn't just based on looks to me.

Gosling may not be the most handsome... but something about that nasally voice and those Photoshopped abs...

And Emma Stone may not be the prettiest, but she does have something... she's Gwen Stacey!!

Yeah, that's the difference between finding someone "attractive" and being "attracted" to them. Some people think the two mean the same thing but there is a difference, I agree. We can admire a beautiful painting. It's attractive, but it doesn't mean we're attracted to it. That's how I feel about, say, Aishwarya Rai. Then there's sexy Hawaiian, Jason Momoa. He's both attractive and I'm attracted to him (only when it doesn't look like he desperately needs a bath.) It kind of seems that's how you feel about Ryan Gosling.  ??? I can't really think of too many people who are ugly that I'm attracted to, though. Maybe Marcus Mumford. Maybe Dustin Hoffman in the 1960s / Mrs. Robinson era. Maybe Jakob Dylan, Wallflowers era. Not ugly men (ok, maybe Jakob Dylan), just not known for their looks. Definitely can't think of any repulsive people who I feel an attraction to!

you are correct, there are plenty of women on TV who are considered hot, but are actually average looking at best.  rooney mara is an example, kristen bell kind of has beady eyes, i dont think jennifer anistons face is pretty, she has a potato for a nose, sarah jessica parker is kind of ugly, jennifer lawrence's face is not attractive, yeah tori spelling looks like a horse.

Oh, gosh, how could I forget SJP! Let's pretend SJP and Tori Spelling were the last 2 women on the face of the Earth. Which one would you take as your wife???!

Aw Common, Rooney Mara IS Hot!!!!!

Special ID - 3/10

always like Donnie, SPL and Ip Man are one of my recent favorite action flicks from HK, but this film just sucked.  HK undercover cop movies usually cliche to death to Infernal Affairs, this one is plain awkward and lacked any sort of flow.  Lead actress Tian Jing is as wooden as ever, i don't see why they cast her.  Only scene worth watching is Donnie ground fight in the beginning.

Saw some movies the last few weeks:

X-Men: Days of Future Past - 7/10
It was okay. You kind of have to be an X-Men fan to get some of the references. My wife likes it because of Hugh Jackman. At least he didn't sing in this. It was almost like a Terminator movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 8/10
I actually like the reboot better than the Toby Maquire trilogy. At first I didn't but it's grown on me and Garfield plays a better Peter/Spidey than Toby did. The kids and I liked Spidey more than X-Men

At a recent hotel stay, they had these two movies On Demand that the boss wouldn't let me watch in the theaters:

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - 5/10
Started off pretty good but the 2nd half of the movie became Mission Impossible. Pine is engaging as a lead but the story was bleh. Keira Knightley sounds weird without her English accent.

Non-Stop - 6/10
Otherwise known as "Taken on a Plane". Neeson is good at that silent, conflicted, tough guy role and this one gives you that. The mystery part of it works well in some parts, but you have to suspend some belief. This is more of a qwerchete movie... no romance. :)

Not a movie but worthy of rewatching over and over:

Band of Brothers - 10/10 (mean Ross is fun to watch)

Finally got caught up on a few this week:

Despicable Me - 6/10

Despicable Me 2 - 8/10 - surprised the second one was better than the first

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 - 9.5/10 - way better than the first one.  So good I bought the Blu Ray plus digital copy this week.

Up on Poppy Hill - 9/10 - a Studio Ghibli film.  Loved it.  Not as good as Howl's Moving Castle but better than Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service.

Snowpiercer:  9/10 on style, general concept, and tone, 2/10 on the plot, and 5/10 on watchability.

I was so excited about this movie.  The concept and style of the film looked great on the trailer. The film itself was well shot and "good" to look at but way to many issues with the plot.  The ending was terrible.

The Lego Movie - 5/10 - over-hyped and the best moments were in the trailers.  I've seen other Lego movies on Netflix streaming that are better.

Wow...surprised considering the reviews and how well it did in the box office.

Then again, I didn't care for the Shrek movies very much.

I didn't like the whole Shrek movies either.  I felt like there was no original thought in those Shrek movies.  It's taking old and used ideas and putting it in a slap stick and raunchy way.  Not something I would let small kids watch.

However Lego Movie is better than the Shrek movies, in my opinion. Just I've seen other Lego movies and this one was more predictable than its predecessors.

Has it really been over a year?

Haven't watched many movies this summer... only Mission Impossible and that's because the wife insisted.

While I don't really get Tom Cruise's non-professional life, he still is a pretty good action star (although he needs to stop taking off his shirt).

I like MI-3 the best, but MI-5 (Rogue Nation) had some good action scenes... 7/10.
