Cancel culture started with people on the far left who would cancel others for wrong speak and wrong think. When folks on the right would bring up the first amendment, they were told that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, the very same people are crying foul.

During the Biden Administration, so many people from politicians to people in entertainment (Kimmel included) lied with no consequence because their political affiliation or agenda aligned with the administration's. The administration put pressure on social media companies to censor conservative voices including Turning Point USA. Again, many of the same people now crying foul had no issue back then.
I don’t have an issue with the consequence in a vacuum. If Disney on its own fired Kimmel for what he said that would have been fine. The issue I have with is Trump forcing his FCC cronie to threaten ABC with a loss of its license, which is tantamount to violating the first amendment. The person in charge of the government is using his power to force companies to do it what it wants or else…..

I guess it’s great if your general views align with the side that has the power.

So here is just basic question to our fellow maga folks. Just so I better understand the mentality/thought process.

What is it that bothers you so much (or maybe not you specially but your maga teammates) about gay people that there is a need to put them down and not treat them as equal human beings? Is it just based on your religious beliefs? Why do you care if they get married? Why does it bother you so much??
I’m genuinely trying to understand what it is that the maga crew hates about them. I grew up in a very religious home and I am actually not religious at all. Perhaps that’s why I’m not bothered by things that seem to bother religious people. Is it your religious views that align maga?? Or is it political views? Seems like both.

First, please don't assume that everyone on the Right/MAGA hates anyone. Scott Bessentt (sp?) is terrific at Treasury, and Rick Grenell is a fantastic addition to 47's circle of advisors.

Many of us don't care who sleeps with who, just as long as they are competent. Yes, I'm looking at both former Secretary Buttigiege (sp?) and former WH press secretary Karine Jeanne-Pierre.

As for the bigger questions you've raised, this isn't the thread to continue working through those issues.

There is no evidence that Trump told Brenden Carr to threaten ABC with loss of its license. I cannot even find an article mentioning Carr having spoken to ABC since Kimmel's Monday show. This narrative that Trump is the reason Kimmel's show got suspended is a left-wing talking point to paint Kimmel as a victim and to blame Trump.

Read the Sinclair press release I posted earlier. As a company, they are unhappy with Kimmel's comments. Nothing to do with Trump. Also, it's now been reported that Bob Iger (CEO of Disney which owns ABC) told Kimmel that he needed to issue an apology and a correction but instead of doing that, Kimmel wanted to double down and further attack MAGA in his next show. After that bit of defiance, what would you do if you are Bob Iger?
