Kogi Korean BBQ truck

Met an UCI student in line. He is renting a room for $700 in a house by Michelson and Culver. Both living and dining have been walled to create extra rooms. The only common area is the kitchen and bathrooms. He said there are a total of 9 room in the 2 story home. 9x700=$6,300. He also said 2 rooms are in the garage. He found the room rental from Craiglist.

IHO here is an idea for you to be the Irvine slumlord with positive cash flow.

He found 6 other properties like this with Chinese landlords by the same area. No wonder FCB are buying up properties even at WTF prices. They found a way to increase rent cash flow by adding 4 to 5 more bedrooms.

I know! And it gives me cold chills everytime I think about it! You have to drive by my old office to get there.

No way... I can't even deal with 4 students... it's not worth it no matter how positive the cash flow.

I feel sorry for that kid, he can get a real room for that price without having to share it with 8 other students.

He is not a kid. He is 32 decided to go back to school and transfered his Thousand Oaks JC a decade ago credits to UCI.

Slumlord and good ethic do not go together. A house is just a money making tool.

I might want to make that meet up, I've been reading about it for too long.

My advice is to check the twitter before you leave to make sure the truck isn't running late. Then show up 30 minutes after the truck said they would arrive. It sometimes takes that long for them to set up and actually start taking orders.

I'm game. If you're in, send me a PM and I'll give you the address. Shoot for arrival at the taco truck about 11:00 with the meetup at my house from 11:30-1am.

I have roughly fifty beers here and chairs. The rest is on y'all.

Put Cayci and I down for a strong possibility. Cayci says strong, but we just got back from the Fullerton Wine and Food event... So we will see how strong Cayci is and how awake she will be around 11. And no-vas, I know where you live. Right next door to the FDIC owned house.

After last weekends wait, I have officially decided that the Kogi Truck is just too effing salty. And to be honest, I didnt love that there was SCRAMBLED EGG IN MY BURRITO. My recipe and methodology is much better, and frankly less profitable but fab just the same. However my tacos dont come from a truck.

Press on. Im just saying.

Because its MY WORD. Again. Im just sayin

They have arrived. 1736 Meats. Same place as last time. Park in the Blockbuster/Target parking lot and cross the street at Tustin.

Despite my threats, I'm out. Mom's birthday celebration is tomorrow and I need to be in good shape.

Finally got around to trying the Baja Fresh Kogi knock-offs today for lunch (at the Oak Creek outlet). Suprisingly not bad. In a way I actually liked the burrito a little better than the Kogi version --- it seemed less *busy* with ingredients --- just the meat, kimchi, and white rice. But, alas, you give up all the fun ambiance that goes along with standing in line for the truck.

On another note, anybody see this?

This video also gives a pretty good example of the Kogi experience. BTW, the big dude in the video is the same guy IR2 and I met at the Kogi stop in Orange a couple of months back, who told us that they were planning to go big in OC (see earlier posts). Guess he wasn't lying.

Here is an article of the <a href="http://fastfood.freedomblogging.com/2009/07/17/review-baja-fresh-kogi-bbq-tacos/28127/">Baja Fresh knock off comparison and caught using "Kogi" in the menu.</a>
