The EV Mirage: When market demand is manufactured, not earned

For over a decade, electric vehicles (E.V.s) have been heralded as the salvation of the planet, a technological fix to the existential

threat posed by fossil fuels. Governments poured billions into subsidies, activists sounded alarms about climate catastrophe, and

states began mandating the end of internal combustion engines. Yet, despite fifteen years of incentives, the E.V. market remains

fragile, dependent, and increasingly exposed. The recent collapse in E.V. sales following the expiration of federal tax credits reveals a

deeper truth: when demand is manufactured through ideology and regulation rather than consumer value, the product cannot survive without constant political oxygen.

Please learn how to converse on the Internet.

This thread was not about EVs saving the planet... it's a good side effect but we all know the other ramification due to battery materials etc.

It's just like smartphones, better technology over ICE.

I did not agree with subsidies or mandates either... but that's not the point. Obviously sales will affected by lack of Fed credits but again, Telsa sold tons of vehicles without credits before and now more EV makers will sell them after.

Like many educated buyers, they will buy on the merits of convenience, technology, driving dynamics and maintenance... just like this very poll demonstrates.

Tesla sold those “tons” of cars because they were selling them at a loss and using Government tax credits and loans to shore up their balance sheet. This EV market is doing exactly what I told you it Would do except now, all the funds we tax payers put into it are gone, wasted. Now the “technology” will have to sing for its supper…that’s just what I wanted…what i decried was the waste just to get to the same spot.👎🏽😡🦄🌈😂

Better technology? Kind of like the Ford Pinto. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Lawsuit: Elon Musk’s Tesla Door Handles Trapped Five People that Died in Fiery EV Crash

According to the complaint, the Bauers survived the initial impact but were unable to escape the fire because the doors locked them inside. A nearby homeowner who called 911 reported hearing screams coming from inside the vehicle, while the local sheriff’s office found a cluster of bodies in the front seat, suggesting they may have been struggling to get out.

Lawsuit Claims Tesla Door Design Led to Deaths of 3 Teens in Fiery Wreck

According to the 36-page complaint, Tesla’s Cybertruck doors are powered by a 12-volt battery, which can fail during a crash, causing the electronic door mechanism to malfunction. The lawsuit also states that the interior manual release is hidden and difficult to locate, effectively trapping occupants inside the vehicle.

The Tsukaharas’ attorney, Roger Dreyer, described the incident as a “horror story” and accused Tesla of being aware of the issue but failing to address it adequately.

Vancouver Man Kicks Out Tesla Window to Escape Burning Car that Locked Him Inside

Firefighters in Vancouver, Canada, are investigating a car fire involving a Tesla after an electrical malfunction caused the vehicle doors to lock shut, trapping the driver inside as smoke began pouring in through vents. The driver kicked out a window to escape from Elon Musk’s electric vehicle.

Lawsuit: Elon Musk’s ‘Defectively Designed’ Tesla Cybertruck Burned so Hot that Man’s Skeleton Disintegrated

Michael Sheehan, 47, perished in a horrific manner when his Tesla Cybertruck burst into flames after a crash, with the fire burning so intensely that his skeletal system disintegrated, according to a gut-wrenching lawsuit filed by his widow and parents against Elon Musk’s EV giant.

A total of 4 articles? Do you read what you write? Come back when you understand what technology means.
Chat gtp says…😂😂😂😂🤦🏽‍♂️
I couldn’t determine an exact count of all articles about Tesla “failing doors,” but there are multiple significant articles covering the issue. For instance:

  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a probe into 2021 Model Y electronic door-handle failures. Spokesman-Review+3CBS News+3TechCrunch+3
  • Technical outlets report that Tesla is redesigning its door handles after people were reportedly trapped in the vehicles. Electrek
  • There are reports the regulator has received over 140 complaints since 2018 about stuck Tesla doors. Engadget+1
If you like, I can search longer and attempt to estimate or list how many articles exist (across major news sites) about Tesla door-failures.

And you're still not understanding.

Explain how those 4 articles prove that EVs are inferior technology. That wide brush can be applied to every ICE car in the world.

Desperate times call for desperate measures….🤦🏽‍♂️👎🏽😂😂😂🦄🌈

Mercedes Slashes Prices By Up To $50,000 As EV Inventory Piles Up

The heftiest discount applies to the 2025 Maybach EQS 680, though several cheaper models also come with tempting offers

The motivation behind these incentives likely ties to the brand’s desire to get rid of any remaining 2025 inventory quickly. It could also be an attempt to keep EV sales momentum after the federal electric vehicle tax credit was dropped about six weeks ago.

Another one bites the dust. I always like to say about a reverse stock split. “You can’t make a big dog by squishing a bunch of puppies together.” These are the last gaps of a dying company. Lucid just did one and it continues to crash…now it’s polstars turn…the dream is dead😂😂😂👎🏽🦄🌈
