The EV Mirage: When market demand is manufactured, not earned

For over a decade, electric vehicles (E.V.s) have been heralded as the salvation of the planet, a technological fix to the existential

threat posed by fossil fuels. Governments poured billions into subsidies, activists sounded alarms about climate catastrophe, and

states began mandating the end of internal combustion engines. Yet, despite fifteen years of incentives, the E.V. market remains

fragile, dependent, and increasingly exposed. The recent collapse in E.V. sales following the expiration of federal tax credits reveals a

deeper truth: when demand is manufactured through ideology and regulation rather than consumer value, the product cannot survive without constant political oxygen.

Please learn how to converse on the Internet.

This thread was not about EVs saving the planet... it's a good side effect but we all know the other ramification due to battery materials etc.

It's just like smartphones, better technology over ICE.

I did not agree with subsidies or mandates either... but that's not the point. Obviously sales will affected by lack of Fed credits but again, Telsa sold tons of vehicles without credits before and now more EV makers will sell them after.

Like many educated buyers, they will buy on the merits of convenience, technology, driving dynamics and maintenance... just like this very poll demonstrates.

Tesla sold those “tons” of cars because they were selling them at a loss and using Government tax credits and loans to shore up their balance sheet. This EV market is doing exactly what I told you it Would do except now, all the funds we tax payers put into it are gone, wasted. Now the “technology” will have to sing for its supper…that’s just what I wanted…what i decried was the waste just to get to the same spot.👎🏽😡🦄🌈😂

Better technology? Kind of like the Ford Pinto. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Lawsuit: Elon Musk’s Tesla Door Handles Trapped Five People that Died in Fiery EV Crash

According to the complaint, the Bauers survived the initial impact but were unable to escape the fire because the doors locked them inside. A nearby homeowner who called 911 reported hearing screams coming from inside the vehicle, while the local sheriff’s office found a cluster of bodies in the front seat, suggesting they may have been struggling to get out.

According to the 36-page complaint, Tesla’s Cybertruck doors are powered by a 12-volt battery, which can fail during a crash, causing the electronic door mechanism to malfunction. The lawsuit also states that the interior manual release is hidden and difficult to locate, effectively trapping occupants inside the vehicle.

The Tsukaharas’ attorney, Roger Dreyer, described the incident as a “horror story” and accused Tesla of being aware of the issue but failing to address it adequately.
