The saga of my dealings with IAC begin when I was back in high school....
When my parents moved our family back from Maryland, they were renting their house, so we temporarily rented in Park West (which I now refer to as 'Park Watts'). The first apartment the staff gave to us was infested with bugs - cockroaches, ants, etc. There were also stains on the carpet and it was dirty - like they never bothered to clean it up before renting to us! My mom had to talk with the staff there, including managers, etc. And they were reluctant to give us a new apt and said it'd be a couple days to clean out the existing one! I had to stay with friends until they decided to give us a new place. Now this was in mid summer, so UCI kids had moved out and the next batch hadn't quite moved in, so there were plenty of other places available. But the staff was unapologetic and didn't think that there was anything wrong with "a few ants".
A few years later, I was attending UCI, and my buddies and I needed an apt. so we got one at Cornell Court. Now you needed a guarantor in order to rent here, meaning someone had to be making more than 4x the rent $ (if I remember correctly). Being in college, none of us had that cheese, so my parents were kind enough to provide their information to the staff. Six months later my parents received calls from various credit card companies, etc. asking about their payments. They had no clue about this, since they didn't have those cards. They then had detectives a year later call them asking about other types of financial dealings that they had nothing to do with. Identity theft!!!!!! Although we couldn't prove it, I am positive that someone in that office stole my parents' information.
Those are just 2 stories on why I will NEVER rent from IAC.
