I think cost, availability, supply, production, market penetration, profitability (losses) and efficiency are incredibly relevant when discussing rainbows and unicorns

But you keep saying the same things over and over when they've already been addressed or debunked.

Funny thing about the truth it doesn?t change so it sometimes bears repeating. Like a stick in the mud, it?s the same from day to day.

Not sure why I'm responding because you won't read this but just in case someone else reads your 2% disinformation:

EVs Hit 10 Percent Of Global New Car Sales, BYD And Tesla Lead
https://insideevs.com/news/610535/electric-cars-hit-10-percent-global-new-car-sales/

Battery-electric vehicles reached 10 percent of the worldwide auto market in July, according to data compiled by CleanTechnica. The publication?s Jos? Pontes has also said he expects September to be the first time plugin vehicle registrations will reach one million units.

Worldwide plugin vehicle registrations jumped 61 percent year over year in July, totaling 778,000 units and representing the best first month of any quarter yet. Additionally, plugins made up 14 percent of the overall market share, with plugless hybrids down for the fourth month in a row ? likely signifying a shift at large in the industry toward plugin EVs.

So while current numbers may be low, that is changing... and will continue to change. Cell phone ownership was at 2% at one time, as was Internet use... and we saw how that turned out.

I was in Shenzen in 2019 right before covid.
All their taxis were Nio electric cars.

After my tesla Y, all new cars I buy will be electric.
I'll save one ICE car for long distance runs.

The electric is just more convenient than combustion engines as a daily commuter.
I am selfish and buy things for my own convenience and finance, and not to show how awesome I am at saving nature.

Nature can save itself.

Biden announces $900 million for electric vehicle chargers at Detroit auto show
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-electric-vehicles-chargers-detroit-auto-show/

Washington ? President Biden, a gearhead with his own vintage Corvette, showcased his administration's efforts to promote electric vehicles during a visit Wednesday to the Detroit auto show, where he announced hundreds of millions of dollars to build roughly 500,000 charging stations across dozens of states.

Mr. Biden arrived at the massive North American International Auto Show to plug the huge new climate, tax and health care law that offers tax incentives for buying electric vehicles. He toured a mix of American-manufactured hybrid, electric and combustion vehicles from Chevrolet, General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis on a closed-off convention center floor, and greeted union workers, CEOs, and local leaders.

OC Auto show is coming Sept 29 to Oct 2... guess what cars many people will be looking at?

Unicorns and Rainbows are here!!!!!

Like the Dodge Rt, insurance will probably moderate the market.  Won?t be long they?ll insist on black boxes

Gas of course will be around for a while, it's not like modern cars just die off, easily last 10+ years and 100k miles

But the truth that bears repeating is that there is change and innovation

EV was 2% last year, now it's 3.4%
https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=51218

Experts in the industry expect continue growth (and subsequent decline of spark ignition vehicles)
https://www.wardsauto.com/industry-news/experts-see-gains-vehicle-electrification-fuel-economy

2% may seem small to purple font, but it's slowly but surely changing

(I think I see purple font at the end of the clip)  :) ;D >:D

I don?t deny the market. My objection is to not allowing market forces to properly find a place for EV?s.  Having government mandate, subsidize and subjugate is unnatural. Let the markets dictate the most efficient distribution of capital instead of forcing acceptance of a political objective.

Why would government contribution to a progress, in your view, a political objective? The adoption of EVs is happening everywhere, not just in the US.
You object just because it is a policy that is not aligned with your political leanings. You are the one who's viewing this from political lens.

Well, it's about 18% hit to net income for impact of subsidy, guess that's chump change to you
https://www.pnas.org/doi/pdf/10.1073/pnas.2011969118

And fossil fuel have been getting subsidies for over 100 years.

So subsidies for rainbow unicorns!

Well, there are also unnatural subsidies for cars in general (overwhelmingly gasoline). For many years, federally funded highways have been an enormous hidden subsidy for car drivers.[1] Gas taxes are poor proxies for actual user fees for all government funded roads and are insufficient to cover the actual cost of transportation spending, requiring repeated subsidies from general tax income.[2] Government funding for all highways is inefficient compared to user fees (tolls).[3] Note that all of these sources are libertarian-minded pro-free-market.

More companies jumping on the Unirainbow bandwagon:

World?s largest auto parts supplier moves to support the industry?s transition to EVs
https://electrek.co/2022/09/16/bosch-moves-to-support-the-industrys-transition-to-electric-vehicles/

Electrek?s Take
After failing to gain an early lead in the electric vehicle parts market, Bosch is quickly getting the message. As my colleague Fred Lambert said in early 2021, Bosch will need to ?change or get left behind.?

It seems the auto parts giant got the message. With a slate of new products to support the EV industry, it can certainly be taken as a sign of the changing times.

Whether by choice or because the market is demanding it, Bosch, like the entire auto industry, is heading towards a sustainable future with electric vehicles.

Bosch transitioning its portfolio to support EVs is significant as automakers worldwide gear up to scale production.
