Is the CAR going to recommend shutting down open houses? Don?t remember if they did that back in March, didn?t they do that in March?

Yeah, physical open houses have been shut down since mid March and has stayed like that since then.  Some agents are doing virtual open houses via Zoom.

The Governor says he's going to be shutting down all non essential indoor businesses, including indoor and outdoor dining. Boy, the opening didn't last long.

I don't read where it says "including outdoor dining".

I hope that's a typo. :)

Close indoors only

The issue is people will not wear masks and refuse to social distance.
I think if the majority did that. The infection/hospitalization would be lower.

My bad, I think I might have heard it wrong on the news.

All good.

as we close again, the 2nd stim check for $1200 gets more and more likely.
The extension of the $600/week fed unemployment benefit goes up as well.

woo hoo more free money!

Where is LA and Orange County in terms of capacity?

OC Health site says 43% ICU beds available and 66% ventilators available.

Meanwhile, what City of Irvine thought would be a month?s worth of free COVID tests already booked up within 2 days.

@NoSuchReality -

Of course there isn't a maintained list of false claims. It's anecdotal at this stage, likely to be updated years into the future. That said, here's one persons tale back in April - a CNBC reporter to boot!
https://www.washingtonian.com/2020/...f-her-family-had-it-but-they-cant-get-tested/

Middle paragraphs have all of the money quotes.

While it's not statistical proof, it's also not something to be dismissed outright. Denial of testing, yet being counted as "positive" is not helping things.

Put a number out there.  How many?

The money are quotes aren?t worth the bits they took to publish.  How many?

It is that simple.  The anecdotes all imply the same thing, so how many?

You imply the system is being gamed, how big the gaming?  What?s the number?

chicken cop out.

Put an estimate on it so we all can see.

You're smearing and afraid to own it.

More anecdotes:

and
https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/f...-confirm-mistakes-in-floridas-covid-19-report

Granted these are Florida stories, so the bar is pretty low here, but still... Are the numbers being reported accurate 100% of the time? Evidently not.

This isn't to say Coronavirus is not something to be aware of, to treat it with any sense of distain - it's simply not well understood as a disease at this moment in time. The facts on the ground are not perfect. Do we crash the economy and society because of it? Increasing hospitalization, ICU, and mortality rates should drive the shutdown, not number of positive cases.

I agree we should try to keep the economy open, the problem is there are people who won't follow the guidelines. It's like when you tell a kid not to press a button and they press it, so you have to take the button away. Either that, or have someone sit there and make sure they don't press the button. That's even what eyephone has been asking for, if people won't follow the rules, increase the enforcement. Maybe these businesses who are getting reclosed will make sure to enforce safety protocols when they reopen (although if it were me, I would make it phased closing... only close the known offending businesses, warn the others and if there are reports that they aren't following the guidelines, shut them down just like the health officers do when there are code violations).

And all these posts here are about growing hospitalization/ICU usage, deaths and positivity rate... not just number of cases... all those are trending up which eventually will cause other issues.
