So, I somehow got the motivation to clean up the backup G-ride today. I think it was inspired by an ad for a bike trailer, and how many 40s, blunts, 3 year olds and/or ponies I could pack in there, and avoid the duiy, if ya know what I mean...

The issue lies in the gear shifter. I have a Shimano Altus ST-CT90 shifter (I think), which thanks to google, is a POS. Anyway, it will only shift between two gears, and the front hub shifter is dead. Now, I am a mechanically inclined guy, and I played with the derailleur and I got how it worked, but it wasn't the problem... it has to be the shift pod. I took it apart too, and I understood how it worked, but got pissed because I couldn't figure out how to adjust it. When I put it back together I realized I messed things up some more, as the numbers do not align up like the used to. At this point with the heat and being tired/pissed/frustrated, could be the reason why I messed that up, and I have the sunburn to show for it. What I noticed when it was apart, was it was still well greased up, and since it hasn't been used that can't be the blame for the issue.
So... are there any suggestions, or more bicycle mechanically inclined IHBers willing to show me WTF the issue is? Sure, I could go buy a new shifter, but that will only discourage me from getting the g-ride up and running. I could also go take it to a shop, but if I can figure out how to fix a $400 climate control system for $16, do a complete disc and brake job, replace oxygen sensors, and replace an idle control valve in a bimmer, then there is no way in hell I am letting some stupid bike win. I am willing to trade for car mechanical for bike mechanical. Especially if you have a bimmer, because I have some special tools and extra parts.
I did go for a ride through the hood though. It was a good ride, and I got to go through a condo complex with a lot of open houses and a lot of foreclosures. Next time I will stop by and annoy the Realturds about how there are open houses, yet so many in foreclosure. "You do know about the foreclosures in the complex don't you? You do read IHB, and graphrix's foreclosure updates... right?" But, I could use some more road friendly tires, as the mountain bike tires are great for trying to run over the rabbits in my yard, but the street is not as friendly.
Oh... and one last thing... I know the 7 circles has had an issue with bimmer drivers in the past, but OMG... I almost got hit by a prius driver, not once, but twice by two different drivers. Jeezus, do they all come with the same medicine cabinet as Al Gore's son? If so... I need to buy one.
