COX v. UVERSE

I installed Cox Internet this week.  Happy with speed.  I purchased 25mbps and getting 25~33 mbps.

I called them over the phone and was able to waive the 60 installation fee.  I have my old modem and didn't not use their.

So for those looking to do Direct TV Costco deal.. you should first book the Costco deal to qualify for the $200.  They won't allow you to do the friend/family referral right up front.  Call the next day and tell the CS rep that you forgot to add the referral account #.  They should add on an additional $10 off a month.  PM if you are kind and want to use my referral.  :)

Dish has a virtual Joey app for the PS3 and PS4.

That means my TV that doesn't have a cable connection nearby can get Dish content as long as I have a PS3 hooked up to it... nice.

I think I'm going to switch to Dish soon.

(sorry yaliu)

What's the best way to score a deal with Cox? I tried going through the rep but they only give the current deal on the website: 50Mbs for $55.

With AT&T can usually get them down and they throw in free installation plus gift cards. Cox doesn't seem to budge unless you get a bundle which I don't want (argh).

Any pointers? Or is the best for 50Mbs package is the current $55 promotion.

Thanks!

The door-to-door salesmen have the best deals.  Otherwise, you can try contacting the new account specialists in Puerto Rico.  The number is listed on the throw-away ads you get in the mail.  You'll still have to negotiate, though.  Calling the main number is a waste of time... like getting blood out of turnip.

Seems like the best deals are when you call to cancel, then they beg you to stay with low prices.

I'm going to call them about my internet.. paying $66 a month for the 50.

Cox. I've heard horror stories about all other vendors. Cox will match their internet pricing if you go to the store when the special runs out. We stream everything and while the do have a data limit they don't enforce it. I've been very surprised with the customer service too. They may seem higher priced than others but like many things it's the quality of the customer service and product.

I recently moved to a new build with COX and had nothing but problems with them. Just signed up to UVerse today, and they would have to have some terrible customer service to be worse than COX.

Before I first move to the new house I get told that it would be cheaper to have the service suspended and then moved, rather than cancelled and turned back on again. Which I am sure in itself was a lie. Then 3 weeks later the service still hasn't been moved because of how long it takes to get COX in a new house (it is 6 weeks I found out, but the liars will bait you with "3 days") and my service is disconnected because someone has moved into the old condo and started a new service. I go into a store to request a refund for this month of service which was essentially stolen from me and am told that they absolutely cannot refund it (by Kieth at Woodbury COX). He then claims he will follow up on the progress of having the new service connected and that he can waive the installation fee. He never follows up. So yeah, I am done with these jokers.

I called Cox to transfer my service to a new house.  They wanted to charge me $75 for install.  WTH?

Called a Cox reseller that the home builder gave me.  Dude gave me free installation and better speed/price.

What a business model where the third party reps can give you better service.

Well, congrats, enjoy your new house

Great news. I hope you enjoy your new home.

Was a DISH user until we moved recently and switched to Cox. I was hesitant at first since most of the feedback I got was that the internet was the most reliable but that the TV service was spotty. We got the new Contour 2 and it is fantastic. All channels with good picture and I really like their sports app. The voice control is also really nice. I haven't had Uverse before but have heard good things about it as well.

I only stay connected to Direct TV for the NFL package.  Until that is gone.. I'm going to stay put.  Also, I like how Direct TV's channel 2 is channel 2HD.  Not like 1002 or something.  Has that been changed yet for Cox or others?
