Yes, we certainly do, when it comes to the Prop. 8 results. I don't want to get into it with you and so won't say more.

Thank god Prop 8 passed...at least there is a morsel of sanity left.

Personally I find the fact that Proposition 4 was voted down to be very upsetting. We live in a state where a 15 year old girl can decide to have an abortion without parental consent, but can't have her teeth cleaned without parental consent. Where is the logic in that?

Winex, may I assume from your comments that it is not physically possible for you to be impregnated by your father?

Very few 15 year-old girls would get the crap beaten out of them if their teeth needed cleaning.

Regardless of how you feel on Prop 8....

Ask yourself, is the Constitution the right place for this law? Is this really what our Constitution is designed for, restricting someone's rights?

This sets a very scary precedent in my mind. What's next?

If you have to be 18 to vote....then shouldn't you 18 to make a life altering decision?

Sorry, I was speaking about Prop 8. I should have made that more clear...

Sorry, I was speaking about Prop 8. I should have made that more clear?

Don't be sorry George. Optimus knows exactly what he's saying....he's been crapping all over my Straw Poll on Gay Marriage thread all morning. He's also aligning himself with Rick Santorum....WOW. That's brave in these times of change.

Trooper

Sorry to see the props that you favored lost in several states. I did vote against the constitutional amendment here in AZ.

For some of you here that don't know me I might be considered the "IHB redneck" ( I think that Trooper will agree on that) but still have a very libertarian view and don't really believe that who one marries is the states business.

The rights and happiness of the individual should prevail over the states incursion into personal freedoms or laws based on religious beliefs.

For anyone who dislikes my thoughts then "I'm your huckleberry" as said by Doc Holiday.

Enjoy

Well said.

I too voted NO on 8. And am a bit surprised that the YES will prevail.

God knows they spent enough money and played the little kid card.

Its just all about fear of things they cant understand.

Have heart.

From a legal standpoint eventually this will get to the US Supreme Court.

Its just a matter of time.

When looking into the demographic breakdowns, via various news sites, it's not really surprising that the vote broke this way. I'm not trying to claim a bias based on race, just pointing out the facts. Obama generated a huge turn-out of voters who were not inclined to vote for same-sex marriages and also not inclined to restrict abortion any further. I had to double check because I just didn't see Prop 8 passing, and yet there is a direct cause and effect evident in the numbers: segments of the population with higher than normal turnout who overwhelmingly voted for Obama also voted No on 2 and Yes on 8. Specifically, black voters of both sexes, minority women, and self-identified regular churh attendees.

While there isn't much to be done about the church group, the efforts of those who support gay marriage should focus on education and outreach among the other sectors of the population that supported Prop.8 because just blaming the Mormons isn't going to change anything. Their efforts were marginally effective at best.

Getting teeth cleaned rarely results in the loss of human life.

Please Eva. I'm sure we all know that abortion is a form of birth control for the irresponsible. Bringing up incest is nothing but a diversion tactic.

So then you agree that parents should consent to any medical process their children are involved in that could result in a loss of human life...
