Why does every conversation have to turn sexual??

Because most of the posters are guys....who don't have filters....

Why exactly ARE most of the members guys? I've wondered that many, many times!!! We have lots of very informative and interesting discussions here about the economy, real estate - both local and fundamentals, finance, current events, etc. Where ARE all the women? To be honest, sometimes I feel so out of place here.  ??? However, I remind myself I've met a couple great ladies on this site. Plus, I would much rather be hanging around you guys reading & talking about the aforementioned topics (porn not included, of course) than chatting with the hens about... I don't know... water retention or some equally worthless subject matter. It also frustrates me when I meet women who have no interest in the things we talk about here. These are important topics! Anyway. Why am I one of the only females here? I don't get it. Maybe I'm just one of the few who will tolerate you guys.  :)

Wait a minute here? I was asking when Trojanman plans on getting married, not when he is planning on having sex.

Exactly. Marriage has zilch to do with sex.  ;)

But seriously. I wasn't referring to your comment, Panda Baby Irvine. No worries.

You are the Yentl of the Smartphone age.

:-\ Well, just so we're clear. In case anyone is keeping track at home: I am not wrestling with any gender identity issues like Yentl, if that's what you mean. I am a woman. I'm just not an airhead. LOL.

Poor Trojan. Back to the topic at hand.

Felt I had to post as a female.  I guess I lurk more than post, but definitely wonder the same things that SoCal78 wonders.  Why are more women not interested in this stuff?  Heck there are many men that are not interested.  A coworker of mine recently started looking and I was shocked at how little he knew.  I had to teach him about saving searches on redfin so that he could receive email notifcations.  I guess the average joe and jane are just not that interested!

my wife is a business professional dealing with CFOs and other business execs on almost a daily basis and non of the topics discussed here interest her whatsoever. go figure..

i would answer this question but dont want the thread to be locked  :)

Fair enough.  :)

There is always a bright side: The men of TI have provided me with more than adequate training so that I will be able to handle the county jail inmate population with great ease in the coming months. Nothing shocks me anymore.

Because the Princesses get scared away?

I think the IHB had a large female contingent... but I think by and large... just the Internet itself is more male. I'm sure there are other forums that are more female dominated like a fashion board or a mommy advice one.

And I'm not sure us guys are as bad as inmates... maybe some of us... hehe.

Back OT:

@USC: Is there anything you would do differently?

Congratulations, USCTrojanCPA! Great story and thanks for sharing it with us. It's even brought some inspiration to this off and on home shopper to persevere a bit in this day and age of short sales predominating the housing market. Of course right now is particularly interesting with the low inventory and high demand chasing it.

I guess the only thing I would have done differently is pick out the flooring and carpet sooner...they both took about a week to get in stock so I could have shaved 2 weeks off the remodeling time frame.

Thank you and I'm glad to share the story with the same folks that made it all possible for me to make the home purchase.  When you see something that you like, jump on it quickly and just keep positive would be my advice.

Here's some before pictures....the demo work of the wall dividing the living and dining room was fun.  The garage picture was after we finished up taking the wall down, removing the trash/random items, the wood floor, baseboards, and the carpet.

Whatchya gonna do with that niche to the right of the fireplace, Martin? How about putting shelves in and trimming it out to make it a built-in unit... bookcase.

Do you have a floorplan jpg you can post so we can see where things go?

2nd question: How are you going to decorate? Is your mom or a girlfriend going to do it for you? What's your style? If your mom / g.f. is unavailable, why not post pics of what you like and we'll help you pull something together! Fun!

Not sure if you mentioned this already but who did you choose for your flooring? If I recall correctly, USCDad is retired.

My wife is the same.  Deals with execs and technology but has no interest in this stuff.  She just leaves it to me since I am interested.  Maybe it is her way of not doubling our efforts and just dividing the things in our busy lives....

Oh, this group is a bunch of teenage boys (language wise) compared to what is at county unfortunately...
