From a Registered Professional Archaeologist in Southern California:

"By the way, the soils where the 'Chinese' development is being built contains tens of thousands of cremated human bone fragments from the 5,000 years of Juaneno occupation of the area!  Talk about bad fung shei, baby."

5,000 years, that?s even older than Taoism!

In Irvine you are never far from the dead, you are living on their bones.
 
Graves are revered as shrines all over Japan which absorbed Buddhism and preserve it perfectly. Obviously they didn't think much of feng shui. In Japanese culture, the dead are respected instead of  feared.

If a culture brags about its long history and philosophies without showing any hint of respect to the remains of their ancestors and that of their same kind, it can only offer an explanation for the crooked nature of their belief. It'd be hard for such belief to gain any universal respect.

New homes are being built next to ancient burial site. If you see very dense neighborhoods next to vacant undeveloped site. That is because city of Irvine is protecting the Indian burial ground.

The link indicated ancient burial sites in Portola Springs. If you look at the street names in Portola Springs they are all Indian related to pay homage to the sacred ground. You would not see any other street names in Irvine this way. It's usually after a flower, California city, tree or stone.

Unfortunately, this document is now classified.

The purple pin according to the document is approximately where the site was and will never be approved for development. Lambert Ranch is the immediate neighbor.

Very interesting to know of the preservation of aboriginal tombs. Irvine developers should be commended for compliance with NAGPRA.
So ......
Is this area of known burial site FS safe?
Or is there an exclusion zone for FS dwelling and of what size/area?
Do children walk past or on the site?
Are home values lower because of the site?
How do the dense developed residents feel about a burial site just outside their door?
Was it in their disclosure documents?
Have they been polled about their feelings?
Are there any plans to relocate the tombs? Perhaps to the hills?
Many other Irvine preserved aboriginal sites, or just this one?
