Maybe Brea, Mission Viejo and Orange Outlets?
 
I'm not sure if these are in the top 5, but when I tried to Google largest shopping centers in OC, I saw them in one website:

Brea Mall, The Outlets at Orange, and The Market Place.

I also saw The Shops at Mission Viejo at some other website.
 
Shops at MV is actually pretty nice.

The revamped Valley Fair up here + Santana Row are nicer than anything in OC. Sadly that's about the only interesting things up here other than high paying jobs and Tahoe. Can't wait to get back to South OC.
 
Wow. They couldn’t stay open at the Kaliedoscope either. You would think with all those apartments and businesses close by it would work.

Tahoe isn't that bad to get to from OC , little over an hour flight to Reno and then <1hr drive in barring any closures/snow depending on where in Tahoe you want to be. We were just there last week for 6 nights. I'd rather do that than drive up to Mammoth. We had to do the drive to Tahoe last year when Southwest systems blew up.

I thought Santana Row parking was horrible and wasn't that big IIRC, did they expand it? It's been a few years since I've been.
 
That Bristol Farms space is cursed. It’s been so many things over the years. Sporting goods. Some gimmicky photo place. Furniture. Design firm? Wonder what they’ll try next.

That spot is cursed. Nothing ever lasts there. Shame though because I liked that store.
 
Bristol Farms supermarket & food hall concept is nice to look at, but lacking once you start shopping. Given choice I'd rather shop at Whole Foods around the corner.

You're better off taking the airport bus to the Stateline casinos (I usually stay at Harrah's so I walk right next door to the Heavenly Gondola) than driving which is dicey when there's lots of snow, which is the only time I go.

I 10x prefer Mammoth however, and look forward to being able to drive there when we're back down south as it's nealy impossible to get there in winter from here.

Santana Row is kind of yesterday's news - the completely redeveloped Valley Fair across the street is where the action is. But it's all relative - Silicon Valley is a rather boring place. If not for my golf club I'd go crazy.

Oak Creek is getting a Golden Spoon...interesting to see them make a comeback.
Westpark is getting The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill...probably taking the place of Luna Grill that just closed.
Paris Baguette is coming to Campus Plaza...maybe where the shuddered Asian Box was?

Skip Great Greek and go straight to Greek Islands in the food court on Main/Von Karman - still there 20 yrs after we left and it's the best greek/middle eastern food I ever found in OC.

Yeah, I shopped and ate there twice and just wasn't that impressed. I prefer Gelson's if we're going to go to a bougie market and somehow the food court wasn't as good as others. I didn't mind the price level but it did set a level of expectation.

Windsor in Costa Mesa has both beers for sale and they opened up a tap room awhile ago, but my go to is Green Cheek for IPAs, across the street from Windsor. The smash burger and tots are great there too.

And if you're into sandwiches, Windsor owns a place in Anaheim called Windsor Brown's that has beer and sandwiches.
