I didn't either, until I saw Stupid Crazy Love. And yes... I did see The Notebook before that... maybe it's a slow burn.

I'm so disturbed by this conversation. It doesn't match the image in my  head.

Disturbed that I can acknowledge male handsomeness? Or appreciate another man's aesthetic prowess?

Here Comes The Boom - 6.5/10

Saw this on On Demand (better than having to run to the Redbox kiosk) and the whole family liked it. Not exactly a kids movie (some bad language and of course violence) but not very decadent.

I'm a Kevin James fan and since I also watch MMA, it was a fun movie to watch.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - 6.5/10

Saw this one without the family... it was pretty good and I like the way they set it up as a prequel. This was better than the Mark Wahlberg remake. A sequel to this called "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" will be coming out too.

And I also do not understand the Gosling effect. And I haven't seen The Notebook, either! It's been in my Netflix queue for like 3 years. I just keep moving it down. Haha.

SoCal- that makes three of us :P

The Notebook is my wife's absolute favorite movie.  She cries every time she watches it.  It's a good story for guys to watch too.  Not as formulaic as many other chick flicks tend to be.

Snitch - 7/10 not as much action as i anticipated. when i see a Rock movie i expect to see him kick some ass, he didnt really kick any ass.

Beautiful Creatures - 6/10 - never read any of the books, didnt know they existed until shortly before i saw the movie.  it was more of a chick flick, love story, not much in the way of magic/special effects.  And definitely not enough air time for Emmy Rossum.

@q: Thanks for the warning on Snitch. I'll just watch the Rock in Fast 6 and GI Joe 2.

I see a pattern in your movie posts, one guy movie and one gal movie... hehe.

Anyone seen the Die Hard movie yet?

Caught this on Netflix the other night.  Korean movie.  Liked it a lot.  Typical plot but great action.

actually i did see the new die hard as well.  tons of action, but the movies plot wasnt very good. this was my least favorite of the die hards, id give it a 6.

PS - one of the previews to Snitch was the new fast and the furious movie coming out on memorial - it looked very good. Rock and Vin diesel, doesnt get any better than that for an action flick.

District B13 7/10

Just saw it again on Netflix instant, fun movie, Jackie chan style but with French people.

I wish I could go see the new movie out with Melissa McCarthy - "Identity Theft". It looks kind of funny. As per usual, I'll probably wait until it comes out on TV five years from now.

JGL? Really?

I'll agree on Jake... how about the Hemsworth brothers... Chris and Liam (Luke... not so much)?

Speaking of Jake Gyllenhaal, I saw "End of Watch" over the weekend. I had high hopes (Jake movie, always have high hopes!), but I didn't think it was great. The plot was kind of weak. The cop stuff was interesting and felt real, which I suppose was the goal of the movie, but you still need a strong plot. Otherwise, you just feel like you've wasted 2 hours.

Although I could probably watch Jake read the phone book aloud for 2 hours and be happy, so...

War of Arrows was really good... saw that on Netflix too... I think I posted about it earlier on this thread somewhere.

I recommend it also.

Life of Pi - 6/10 On Demand and DVD (doesn't hit RedBox until April 9)

It was an interesting movie... thought provoking afterwards. Great cinematography... and nothing like the Bollywood stuff I've watched (hehe).

Wreck-It Ralph - 8/10

Had to buy the BluRay... great movie... although my wife didn't like it as much as we did because she's not into videogames (but I don't think you need to be to understand the story).

Life of Pi: 9/10 for not deviating from the book :-) I read the book almost ten years ago, and when the movie came out, everyone was watching with kids, couldn't stop sharing how much their kids liked Richard Parker. So I was a little weary about watching the movie..

We watched it on Amazon instant last evening. Loved it! Yes IHO, not Bollywood Indian and nothing like the world likes to portray India :-)

The Man with the Iron Fist: 7/10

Fake blood galore.. but  a fun no brains movie... keep expectations low.. and you'll enjoy this.. remember to put the kids to bed first :)..

Used Redbox online for the first time this last weekend to rent "Rise of the Guardians" for the kids.

So much more convenient than I have been doing it (old school stand in front of the machine for a while figuring out how to navigate the screen and find the movies).

Just do a search for the movie you want, it shows you the locations of the machines that have it, reserve it and show up to the unit before 9pm, press the "Pick Up Reservation", slide your credit card and done.

Only $1.50 for BluRay and much cheaper than the $5.99 I pay for the HD On Demand on Cox. On Demand still has some advantages as they usually get their movies the same day it release on DVD/BluRay (some titles are delayed on Redbox) but this route is probably better for us than the DVD by mail rentals through Blockbuster or Netflix. It will be easier on the bank account because we've been buying all the kid DVDs but now we'll only buy the ones we think are worth and will get replayed often (like WreckIt Ralph).
