The guy does absolutely nothing for me. Given the opportunity, Twinkle Toes would be placed directly into the Friend Zone with all of the other overrated "heart throbs"... I'm lookin' at you, Taylor Kitsch, Leonardo, David Beckham, Brad Pitt, etc. with Gosling being the biggest turn-off of all those listed.

Well. Speak of the devil. Chanel's new ad came out today with its first male spokesman in the company's history.

Pity. I'm a Chanel fan.

He says: "Hi. I'm Brad Pitt and I haven't had a bath in days."

THIS, I have to watch right after I go home :-) love, love, love this guy when he is just posing.. can't stand his acting though.

Ryan Gosling- no, does nothing to me either. He looks like a whiny pup to me.

Exactly. Admittedly, I haven't seen much of his work to give him a fair chance. One look and I'm done. He strikes me as effeminate, nerdy, and can imagine him as pestering.

I like a manly man. He can't be afraid to rough someone up, a little bit "wrong side of the tracks" - can't be too nice like Gosling. I'm thinking of Matt Dillon. He must look good on a motorcycle. Attitude like Marlon Brando**. Jet black hair, full lips like a 1968 Elvis. Smoldering like a young Olivier Martinez in "Unfaithful" (WOW! The most intense movie ever. I am ashamed I watched this dirty film but by the time I realized what it was, it was too late. It stuck with me for weeks. Unforgettable.). Sultry like Maksim Chmerkovskiy (minus the jerk attitude). All the better with olive skin and smoldering dark eyes like Eddie Cibrian or darker.

Gosling is not gritty enough for me. He's an innocent boy. Not a man.

**Yes, I know he was gay. #Cry

Two Gosling movies that might change your opinion:

Stupid Crazy Love (probably one of the better romcoms in recent memory and it has Steve Carrell in it)
Drive (a bit disturbing... but Gosling's character isn't very effeminate or nerdy)

I'm waiting for The Expendables 2 to hit DVD to get my "manly-man" ration for the month... although I hated the first one. I wanted to watch Taken 2 instead of Looper because Liam has that "particular set of skills" but couldn't get a good show time last weekend.

Maybe you're more the Here Comes The Boom type... Kevin James is a portly funny guy.

+1 to Unfaithful :) I went into the theater knowing nothing about it.
Last movie I went without knowing anything was Avengers. 8/10- the movie wouldn't end! If they had shortened it by 15 mins, it would be a 9/10. BTW, Robert Downey Jr- YAY!

IHO- you had asked fr Bollywood action movie recos. There is one called Force on Netflix. Got too 'actioney' for me in the first 15-20 mins, so might be good :)

I'll agree with both of those.  I liked Crazy Stupid Love more but that was probably because the hype for Drive was crazy.  Drive was good but I didn't think it was as amazing as a lot of people were saying.  While Crazy Stupid Love, I thought it was going to be average and felt it was much better than that.  I thought the first ten minutes was really fun and tense, but they never had a scene like that again.

Crazy Stupid Love reminded me of 40 year old virgin in a lot of ways by how they were trying to make Steve Carrel into this ladie's man at the bars/clubs

End of Watch - 8/10.  intense yet has some funny parts.  Shows good bonding between the cops.  Hoping to see either Looper, Taken, or Argo this weekend

We are currently working our way down the Harry Potter movies.  We recently got free HBO and saw the first one on there and was pleasantly surprised at much we liked it.  Thought it was going to be a lot more childish.  Will wait til we finish all of them before rating.  We are about to watch the sixth one.

Update: My post was prophetic. It seems I am not the only woman in America who found the ad utterly ridiculous.

'"Do I look super homeless?" SNL does spoof of disastrous Chanel ad' is the title of an article here.

I wish I could embed the video but I can't. See the first spoof on NBC's site here:http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/brad-pitt-ad-1/1421402

I was stuck in the house this weekend while my handyman, "B.G." for those who know him, was toiling away.

I watched:

The Lost Boys (1987). 2/10
Might be good if you're a 15 year old boy watching.

Eat, Pray, Love. (2010.) 2/10
Pretty lame. Disappointing. Like the above, I had heard such hype about this movie.

A good movie, like a good friend, is hard to find.

Eat Pray Love was a total let down. The book was better than the movie, but her second book committed was better than the first one. I think those going through a rough marriage or divorce enjoy it better. A friend of mine whose divorce was finalized a week ago watched it this afternoon also, and her status on FB says a different story- she enjoyed it so much, she cried.

Same goes with those books about women in midlife. They all find a passion, and suddenly become rich and famous, and have an affair or are on the verge of having an affair and then miraculously they realize what they have is beautiful and should be preserved, or they divorce and go to 'find life'.

I am watching Captain America. Done with Iron Man 2, 8/10. R D Jr- awesome!

Prometheus - On DVD

5/10 I dunno... should have just stuck to an Alien sequel. I can see how they are trying to develop a different storyline and at least I know a bit more about that gigantic creature corpse in the Alien movie... but the plot of this movie was so erratic.

Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation
1/10

Picture quality looks like a classic movie until I saw Mac Air and sister Sarah (Palin).
Very slow action as it takes a while to build the suspense. The make out scene between the big breasted girl on a corpse is the only highlight of the movie.

Wreck-It Ralph - 8/10

Another good Disney animated movie (although not from Pixar I believe). The kids liked it and us adults who grew up with video games will like all the different references (PS9 may like this movie).

Almost like a mix of Willie Wonka, Fast&Furious, Aliens and The Matrix.

Skyfall - 6/10

Yeah... I didn't like it as much as the first 2 Daniel Craig movies. I like all that Bond gadget and technology stuff and while there was the return of Q, not much of the tech was in this one. Just didn't feel like a Bond movie to me... and I thought they would continue with the shadow group storyline from the previous 2 movies... so it was less interesting to me.

Caught Hotel Transylvania a couple weeks ago with a bunch of other families.  It's ok.  Not really impressed with Sony Animation.  On my personal ranking...Pixar is king, then followed closely by Dreamworks animation, followed by regular Disney and everyone else is grouped into last.  That being said, I thought Brave was a dud, my daughter didn't like it that much.  Actually Cars 2 was kinda suckass also.  High hopes for Monster University.  Pixar needs a fresh idea like Up, that was a fantastic film.

Will somebody help me?

How do I find a movie that I really want to watch today but is not on Netflix (I already checked). I'd prefer not to wait for it to be delivered. I don't know what to do next. I did try Googling it and thought I found one site I could buy it and download it from but it looks suspicious for some reason. Has anyone tried something called "Instant Video" on Amazon? I see they do have that. I never have tried it.

I have used instant video on Amazon.  They have some free videos if you are an Amazon prime member, or you can pay to watch it.  Most blu-ray players, xbox, etc. have an app just like Netflix to watch it.

+1 for Amazon instant video. I use it for kids and the quality is as good as Netflix. If you are connected via Roku, you can download Amazon app.. As a Prime member, I have access to the free videos also, but the selection isn't all that great.
