President Trump

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program

In Irvine, Calif., ICE agents drove a phalanx of military vehicles in the Orange County suburb to arrest a person, though not for illegal immigration. They were seeking a resident’s son who had allegedly posted fliers alerting neighbors to the presence of ICE agents.

Also in the article: agents making arrests without identifying themselves or their agency. No badges. Masked in plain clothes. No warrants.

I wish the libertarian part of the Republican party would grow a spine against this federal authoritarian shit. It's fascinating to watch Republicans cry foul about federal overreach and then cheer this trampling of laws and rights.
I think you are referring to this:

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/...ne-turtle-rock-doxxing-investigation/3691655/

In this case it was for a person doxxing federal officers and their families; putting them in danger. THIS IS WHY THESE OFFICERS NOW WEAR MASKS! This person committed a federal crime and I hope the person is caught and has a long time in prison to reflect on what he did.

Another story of federal officers being doxxed:

Quillin who runs the LA Scanner account “doxxed federal agents and directed protesters to federal buildings before and during the riots. As a result, both the agents and the buildings were repeatedly attacked. Last night he began to realize that he was putting lives in danger stating, “I genuinely hope this doesn’t end in anyone losing their life” after posting the address of a federal agent.

It now appears that Quillin was illegally operating his online operation and likely broke his court-ordered stipulations defined in his docket earlier this year, just five months ago. Earlier this year, in January, Jack Quillin was ordered by a court not to use or have access to surveillance equipment or radio scanners.

The 2 minute video and NBC article is informative - there is a date (May 1), location, actual interview of the parents. Is this the same event that the WSJ article and quote by Hugo mentions about the action in Irvine? The WSJ article is from 2 days ago but it does not mention specifics about the action in Irvine but it does have a neat drone video.

The information about Quillin and the LA Scanner account is unrelated to Irvine right? It seems related to the recent violent riots and looting in Los Angeles.

The writer used unnamed sources and "officials" (dog catchers? food inspectors?) to "verify" the actions listed above. The claims are suspect at best. I was told by a person in LA. "ICE went into a high school graduation ceremony and arrested people!!!" Which is simply a fable - one that is guaranteed to rille up low information rioters.

If you think WSJ's news section is an unreliable source, I don't think you're ever changing your mind.

I think the real story here is the federal authoritarianism on display and I'm sad that nobody seems to give a shit.

I remember reading a story about a wife demanding to see a warrant from federal officers as her husband was arrested and taken in an early morning raid. No warrant was shown to her. This was during the Biden administration. This "federal authoritarianism" might be operating protocol in certain instances. Without more specifics about the examples cited in the WSJ article, it is impossible to determine if the actions were inappropriate.

I’m still wondering why Trumps Ice team has not hit Irvine or OC yet. Tons of illegals and over stayed visas and they are not Latino..hmm
There were arrests in Santa Ana & Fountain Valley yesterday, followed by violent protests & arrests in downtown Santa Ana. Maybe the gated communities of Irvine are enough to protect the non-Latinx's.

Same Federal Authoritarianism on display in 1992 forward. This may be new to many of you, dear reader, but it's not new.

Since ICE is simply doing their job in a lawful manner, what exactly are we complaining about? Given that these recent round ups were a host of child molesters, repeat violent crime offenders, money launderers, etc. They even scooped up a Russian in DTLA to be deported for various crimes. This simply is how "sausage is made". If you don't like what you see, you need to look away. What's being done by ICE is what ICE has done (again, lawfully) since it's inception.

As for the WSJ sourcing and bias:

2016

2025

No news outlet is perfect. They lose credibility when story details are purposefully missing. That's the point of complaint against the WSJ's reporting. I've heard plenty of fairy tales about ICE doing this or that, but when asked "where did you see this" or "where can I find out more about this?" It's met with the finger, not facts.

One is timing. The other is process.

But you are biased so you won't see it.

By the way, isn't Rebulican supposed to be less government spending and overreach? Seems opposite.

Can’t wait till Saturday, should be a great military parade, and then a national thumping, and the weather‘s gonna be great so watching on my dock with a cold beer👍🏽😂😂😂🇺🇸

Huh?! WTF are you even saying? When you accused morekaos of obfuscation, you must have been projecting. Like I said, go ahead and believe whatever you want.
Just the fact I have to explain it to you means you don't get it... I'm not obfuscating anything, it was your post.

Tell me how what you posted means that Jan 6 and calling in the National Guard for the recent protests are the same?

Or maybe someone else who supports Irvine Buyer's opinion can defend it?
