Thanks, will check them out. Tried the british grocer and the pubs in Santa Ana and Fullerton and I wasn't impressed.

Eh, that is what I thought you were going to say. Cayci and I went there one night, and we thought it was good, but it was trying hard to be part of the scene and I did feel it was more inspired than originated from Cuba. Keep you wallet in your pocket until I find some real Cuban food for us to go to.

A lot of people like Felix's in Old Town Orange, but I haven't been there in years because I thought the food was so so the last couple of times I went. But, I would be willing to try it again.

It's too bad this place closed, because Gustavo liked it.

There is Havana Mania in Brea, but it looks cheesy from the website, but you never know.

Habana Cabana in HB has received mixed reviews.

You would think there would be a hole in the wall somewhere in SA or Anacrime, but no luck so far. It may require a trip up to the Manhattan Beach Versailles location. Or you can fly me and BV out to Miami with you when you go to buy one of the many foreclosed high rise condo projects. Just keep it on the DL so Ten doesn't find out, otherwise he would be there applying the peer pressure to buy multiple buildings.

This is like the only place in LA that sells Cevapi. I went there a couple of times, its not bad...but I know what the real stuff tastes like back home.

My dad makes good Cevapi, and this weekend I'm going to pick up ingredients and have him come over and show me how its done Cro style.

Then when I get some practice in, I'll have you guys come over to OH and abuse their outdoor grills.

Yep... once you've eaten at Versailles, it's very hard to find another Cuban place that comes close.

Went there about a month ago for the first time in a few years and it was updated... repainted walls and new fixtures. But the food still came fast and tasty... someone really needs to get them to open up an OC location.
 
felix's - i dont know whether its truly cuban or more spanish, but my tummy doesn't care. it likes it, especially the roast pork or crepes del mar.

what's in that creamed spinach and onion garnish they have on some of the dishes? must be crack because i can't get enough of it.

+1 on the tres leches. at layer cake bakery on barranca (woodbridge) they make a boston creme pie cake which is basically a tres leches with a layer of custard and layer of chocolate ganache.

My wife calls her the Cooking Hooker, but makes all her recipes anyway. At this rate, my arteries will be pumping pure Ricotta by summer. I can only imagine that her husband has Lipitor implants.
 
I went to Felix's about 2 weeks ago. It was great.

For sausage Sabatino's Kinda hard to find the place but I gotta tell you their spicy italian sausage is awesome.

People come in during the summer on the weekends and buy 10-20 lbs at a time.

My favorite food is "Good" Carnita's. Again I say that Javiers does a good job with theirs and believe it or not the Avilla's in Tustin makes a good Carnita's.

Oh and I would much rather be married to Giada then Racheal Ray any day.
 
If the Food Network women were the only ones left on earth then Giada takes the cake...easy. Racheal Ray...I would rather die. I would take Paula over Racheal Ray.
 
if you were married to paula dean you'd die quickly too. but you'd die happy. i think her recipe for mint juleps has half a stick of butter in it.

Oh, c'mon now! Giada is no more of a kitchen vixen than Nigella Lawson! You guys must have forgotten about her shows "Nigella Bites" and "Nigella Feasts" on Foodnetwork.

BTW - I've met Paula Deen, her husband Captain Michael, her niece, and her gardener Brandon who appeared on early episodes. One of the highlights of my life! I have most of her cookbooks autographed.

How come you don't like Rachael Ray? Is it her voice that bothers you? Her voice can be irritating.

Not sure. Voice is part of it. Everything about her is irritating. Her whole presence. She is one of those people that gives you the urge to kick them. Hard.

It's too bad too that some people have the power to give off that kind of vibe. She didn't do anything to me either.

I can appreciate Nigella because she's my "type", but Giada seems to appeal to everyone. Rachel could be whisking topless and I still wouldn't watch her show or eat her food. As for Paula Dean...
