Palin will do anything for attention

Damn trrenter. You are jumping in a woodchipper on this thread.

On a personal note. My son. Now 23. Had serious issues with the Capo School district.

It took heaven and earth to get him to even finish High School. After working for me for a few years he is now working for that Big TV company in Irvine and really doing well and may well eventually get his engineering degree. Just keep cool and be there for him !

All women have premarital sex. 99.9 % at least. Unless your on a Flat Earth.

A smart woman does not get pregnant from premarital sex. She plans ahead.

A woman is a Floozy long before she has premarital sex. And long after.

Only a floozy would let her daughter have premarital sex without getting her birth control

far in advance. Remember. EVERYBODY has sex as a teenager. Parents that are responsible

communicate and help their teenagers get through this difficult time of life with love

education and support. Nothing wrong with a condom or a birth control pill either.

You know what they call parents that preach Abstinence ?

Floozy Grandparents.

Getting knocked up before they got married. Order makes a difference.

So if a woman has premarital sex is she a floozy?

Maybe so, maybe no.

Does a woman have to get pregnant having premarital sex to be a floozy?

No, but doing so is an automatic ticket to Floozyville.

Once a woman has premarital sex will she always be a floozy.

Not necessarily, but it's hard to shake the stripes off a zebra.

If a woman got pregnant having premarital sex will she always be a floozy.

Yes.

Is there a male equivelant to a Floozy? If so do the same standards apply.

Absolutely.

I suppose you never had premarital sex.

My sex life isn't up for discusion and is strictly out of bounds for this discussion.

Palin's (both of them) is because they made it front and center during the campaign trotting Bristol out for the media.

If you GOP Flat Earther types

I don't think I qualify as a flat earth GOP type. I think that is a label that you have placed on anyone that disagrees with anything that is not Pro Democrat.

I don't think David Brooks is a flat earth GOP type, and he's certainly not pro Democrat. The ones I'm speaking of are all hot and bothered about deficits, but during 43's admin, those folks brushed off similar comments from the fiscally conservative left (there are a couple of us) with a "Hey, we got a war on!" excuse. So, that snares just about anyone who listens to Hannity, Rush, or Glenn Beck on a regular basis.

No Vas the only thing I can comment on is Palin trotting her family out. All politicians trot their family out. Doesn't mean we need to ridicule them. Especially Teenage girls.

BLT I doubt that Sarah Palin "Let her Daughter have unprotected sex".

I think everyone is making the assumption that Sarah Palin never taught her daughter about birth control. That may or may not be true. She may not have trotted her down and gotten her on the Pill but that doesn't mean they didn't talk.

IMVHO a girl even on birth control should make a boy wear protection because of STD's.

Again When I went to high school with Fred Flintstone we learned about Abstinence as the best way to avoid unwanted pregnancies and STDs. However if you were not going to practice abstinence then different birthcontrol methods were discussed. That was part of sex ed.

To me it is like hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Abstinence being the best but preparing them to use birth control.

I personally disagree with most of the definitions of floozies.

To me a floozy is a woman who has sex with any tom, dick or harry.

A teenage girl that has sex once can get pregnant she shouldn't be labled a floozy.

Oh and on the deficit.... I don't care who the president is Deficit spending sucks. I have been and always will be for a balanced budget amendment.

Go read Eva's post in the Floozy thread RE: double standards and playing the morality card.

If Obama had been in the same situation and handled it the same way, the Luddite Flat Earth GOP types like O'Riley and Limbaugh and Hannity would be castigating the Obamas for being everything that is wrong in the Black community today. Since nobody will deny this is the case, I am applying the same standard to every GOP candidate from here on out that they (I'm sure) will apply to any Dem candidate.

Fair is fair, but like you implied, that doesn't mean it's right.

The problem is that the gop advocates "abstinence only" sex ed (no mention of birth control). In fact, they go so far as to prohibit funding of any sex ed that mentions birth control.

Sarah Palin is one such advocate/restrictor of money.

That is why she is a hypocrite. That is why her daughter got knocked up.

That is why she is fair game.

You continue to cite the far right as to why this is OK. Last I checked David Letterman is not a far left Dem with a political talk show.

Apples to Apples here if Letterman would have made a reference to Michelle Obama and replaced slut with Ho you think the public wouldn't be outraged? Since Barack asked the Press to leave families out of the election and the press complied we don't have as much dirt on Michelle as we do Sarah but I am sure there are a few skeletons in her closet. For whatever reason the press has been satisfied reporting on her fashion sense and her dog.

Does anyone know for sure they didn't use birth control that failed?

I doubt her daughter got knocked up because her mom is a hypocrite.

Her daughter might have not known about birth control what about the father of the child?

This statement is exactly correct.

Teenagers and sex are like rain in Seattle. ITS GOING TO RAIN.

So instead of keeping the whole issue of SEX evil and to be avoided.

You sit your kid down and give them condoms/birth control. You tell them how much you love them and remember how hard it was to grow up with your ignorant parents.

As parents we can act like adults and really impress our children or we can be idiots and ignore the reality of teenage sexuality in the 21st century.

Discussing the Obama`s and the Palin`s in the same pretext is just inane bytheway.

One is White Trailer Trash and the other is America`s First Family.

That is not apples to apples... Michelle did not run for public office, she is the First Lady. Has Michelle gotten as much scrutiny as the former First Lady Laura Bush? You betcha and more. Laura Bush like Barbara Bush got treated with kid gloves unlike the First Lady in between. And librarian Laura even had some skeletons in her closet (involved in a fatal car accident comes to mind).

Everyone has skeletons in their closet depending on your definition. Since you want to compare the two women, Michelle graduated from two very prestigious universities and wasn't pregnant when she got married. Palin bounced between mediocre universities to get a basic degree and was pregnant when she got married. Those are obvious differences on the 10,000 foot view of both women. Why are you so sure Michelle has something to hide?

The scrutiny Palin receives is similar to that of other prominent female policians - say Hilary Clinton. Hilary, however, did not constantly point public attention to her daughter - especially when she was a minor.

Nobody called Hillary Slutty and nobody made a comment about Chelesea having Sex with Arod during the 7th inning of a Yankees game.

Or, there are no skeletons! Don't worry, the far Right "Black Helocopter" wackos will make up some soon enough and that will pass muster for fact. You obv. don't remember what they did to Bill and Hilly.

Mostly because she wasn't tramping around! Proof? No baby!

Glad you agree that comparing the media's treatment of Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama is not the same.

Hillary was called far worse than a "slutty airline stewardess". First example that comes to mind.... Newt Gingrich's mom quoted him as calling her a b____ after the Connie Chung interview. Hilary difused the situation by inviting Newtie's crazy dingbat un-media trained mom to the White House and making nice.

Chelsea had it worse too...

People might not have made that particular joke about Chelsea but that was because the more common joke was about how unattractive she was. For example, classy McCain's late 90s's joke about an 18 yr old:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."

Liberal SNL routinely called her ugly, who knows how many others. It wasn't so long ago that I was a teenage girl and I would have clearly preferred the A-Rod joke to being called ugly. That hurts your self esteem. I can't even imagine how much crap the kid would have taken if she had made the huge blunder of getting herself knocked up in high school.

I could be wrong, but didn't Levi Johnston say on a talk show that Sarah knew he was "sleeping over" and was ok with it?

I understand the need for GOP supporters to turn any negative against any one of their (ahem... cough) leaders, and use it against someone on the other side of the aisle...... but you simply cannot put the Palin family and the Obama family side by side with a straight face. And it is Palin's own damn fault..... she is the one who turned herself and her family into a cartoon. Nobody else did that for her.... she did it. Blame the media, blame her advisors, blame McCain.... but the bottomline is that Palin and now her daughter Bristol are both cartoons.

Did David Lettermen's joke miss the target? Sure, but the guy is a COMEDIAN. He is not Katie Couric for goodness sake. So who really cares?

But this is what Palin does -- she is a total drama queen that exagerates everything, which makes her an even bigger cartoon.

My advise to Palin would be to shut her trap -- the more she talks, the bigger the hole gets for her to climb out of, and her family along with her.

Palin has geographic foreign policy experience. I vote:

Hey, have anyone notice this. Former 1st Lady Barbara Bush is a school teacher, right? Yet, the 8 years she was in D.C. I have never seen her reach out to the inner city school kids of D.C. as compare Michelle Obama. And the current 1st Lady Michelle Obama is not even a school teacher.

Again, just having it both ways.

[quote author="trrenter" date=1244843507]She is at it again she took a trip to NY just so she could be on Letterman.

I wonder if the someone made comments about Michelle Obama or the Obama's daughters like Letterman made about Palin and her family what the public reaction would be.

Love Letterman always liked him more then Leno but the Slutty comment and the daughter getting knocked up by Arod was pretty classless.

One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez.

I would be pissed off if that were my daughter he was talking about.

Contessa Brewer from MSNBC proves just how biased the media is with her interview of John Zieglar.

Contessa doesn't mind being called Slutty evidently. Most of the women I know would throw a drink in your face or slap you if you called them a slut. Contessa doesn't get upset about that I wonder why?

I finally saw the clips. First, let's clarify the facts. Palin did not go to NY to be on Letterman. Yes, the jokes were made, but not in her presence. Letterman made the jokes as part of his Top Ten List.

Turning to the controversy: I agree that the joke about Palin's daughter was not made in good taste, especially since her 14-year-old daughter was at the NYY game with her, not her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol. Letterman says that the joke was directed at Bristol. Who knows. Letterman's people should have considered the fact that Bristol was not the kid at the Yankee game. Palin's (or any other public figure's) underage children should be off limits; it's just in better taste. Unfortunately, I think that Bristol is open game. Since turning 18, she has inserted herself into the public eye by appearing on many networks talking about abstinence. Palin's handlers should have informed Palin and Bristol about the risks associated with going to the media to espouse such views. If Palin's handlers didn't inform Palin and Bristol about the risks, then they should be fired. Regardless, Palin should have understood the risks anyway.

I also think that the slutty flight attendant joke about Palin was fine. Was it in good taste? Probably not. Letterman is a comedian, and it was an off color joke. Letterman is and always has been more off color than his former late night rival, Leno. Palin is a public figure, and Letterman's joke was certainly not obscene (i.e., the joke was protected speech under the First Amendment). Public figures are subject to scrutiny and they are obvious targets for comedians. It comes with the territory. If Palin doesn't want to be attacked, then she can step out of politics altogether--I'd like that.

I'm irritated at Letterman for making the knocked-up joke, and he regrets making the joke, too. I'm irritated because Palin is now fighting back as if she is some kind of advocate for women's rights. If you look at her record, you'll find that Palin is absolutely not an advocate for women's rights.
