Are u sure? It sold in 2006 for $620,000 and purchased new in 1999 for $199,000. I think redfin is misinformed, or maybe I am but what it's saying is that it lost over half its value from 2004-2006. Anyways, it's now going to auction.

No, all I know is what's on Redfin. Maybe Redfin is wrong. It does seem really weird.

It already went to auction on 8/3, and it sold to an investor for $432,600. Not a bad deal. Keep in mind 20 and 31 Lantana are in default too. If 31 ever goes to auction it will probably be scooped up by an investor too.

Its a mistake. there is a 6 Lantana in Newport Beach as well, the entry is for that. SiteXData shows the same $1.3mil on the home... but it lists the seller as Taylor Woodrow Homes to a seller who is not the owner and never listed again... the home was sold a few years earlier by Laing Homes.

For over two thirds of a million, you would think they would at least drain the pool. Of course, for two thirds of a million, I wouldn't want three sets of railroad tracks directly behind my backyard, either.
 
I just ran across this $10 million listing in the Newport Back Bay/Santa Ana Heights area. Granted, this is a very unique large lot right on the Back Bay (look out for those airplanes above!), but the real estate agent included the following text in the listing which I found amusing:

"The sellers have considered the current market and VERY REALISTICALLY decided to sell this home for what maybe UNDER the current market."

The house sold for $5.2 million in 2005, and they seem to think that the "current market" still allows a person to almost double their money in 4 years. Amazing.

If you look at the redfin link, you can in fact find a plane heading out west of University Dr. a few hundred yard away from the house.

I would be stunned if the sellers (or bank) get anything more than $4mm for that house. Apparently the sellers don't realize that at their asking price, they are competing for some very high end homes in Newport Coast, Emerald Bay and Newport Harbor. The only thing that this house has going for it is the lot size which is greatly minimized from the airport noise (as mentioned above). I actually think this house goes for somewhere in the mid to low $3mms.

But the description says that they are being very realistic given today's market...I mean they were considering asking $19m for the $10m price is a bargain. NOT!!! Weird ass lot shape, over the flight path of John Wayne, and a house that looks somewhat dated. For $10m, I'll take Crystal Cove in a heartbeat.

Driven past that street before... I think its a bunch of teardowns... Its a very bizarre area... a few of the properties there appear to have multiple dwelling units on it, or might even be commercial...? Its overlooking the bay. The homes all have long driveways going into them, and you can't see them from the street.

There is a mixture of commercial and residential property across the street... an area where people were definitely doing teardowns... you can see this small little homes right next to huge newly built McMansions.
