My favorite '50s / '60s house. I don't think this one was modified since it was built.

It's amazing how people can live in a home for 40+ years and not update a thing! But I guess it paid off for the family of these owners as this home is in escrow. Maybe it's not so much the fancy upgrades that account for a home's value, but rather the neighborhood and upkeep of the property. A classic style will always be in demand I suppose.

I love the West Floral Park House, you are right, neighborhood and style will get you there. I love the one story ranch houses. This one almost has a Palm Springs feel to it. Better than much of the Pergraniteel we get these days.

This my new favorite house. On the outside a respectable Tudor.

The interior . . . Oh, the interior . . . These people really did want to live in a castle in Europe. The decor is Tudor Disneyland. I can't even begin to comprehend the kitchen cabinets. You really have to see it for yourself. Given the inside, I don't understand why there isn't a replica of the Matterhorn in the yard.

This house is off the market?!?!?! I'll admit to driving up to the gate to get a better look and checking the status of this one from time to time.

I know they dropped the price significantly at some point. Frankly, I think Trooper gave in and got her trees.

But hey, we are only asking 5x the tax role!

I cannot believe people are paying rent to live near that. I would be too scared.

You know, if a house is really, really unchanged since being built in the early 60s, it can be awesome. I live in a 1962 modernist house. It was redone several years ago, after a lot of neglect. If I had redone it, I would have made it closer to original. I redid the cabinets and they look like 1962. They don't look like they are 46 years old. They look like they were just installed, and it's still 1962.

"Updating" can often be a mess. Windows that don't match. Funky rooflines. Crappy unskilled labor redoing things. Pergo and granite.

The gallery entry has 26 hand-picked original paintings inspired by the masters. Villa Rosa Rugosa has its own chapel, among fruit trees and roses. It is authentically designed with custom-made pews, gold- and silver-flake 7-layer textured walls, and grand marble alter representing motifs of Italian Renaissance. An entertainer s dream exists behind 12-foot arched wooden garage doors, leading to a Venetian-style ballroom complete with Austrian crystal chandeliers and flooring fashioned after Venice s 16th Century Salone Maggiore.

The only thing the house is missing is a statue of David.
