Goodbye IHB

Can't we all just get along and play nice? haha As a few of the regulars and I chatted about earlier this evening, let's give Shevy a chance and see how he does before we pass judgment. I know most of us will wonder by IR/Z didn't team up with a more experienced and respected realtor like IR2, but let's see how this thing plays out before we start throwing IR/Z/Shevy to the wolves.</blockquote>

Trojanman,

You have answered your own question. Why didn't IR/Z teamed with the more EXPERIENCED realtor like IR2? The key word is "experience". They would rather choose a not so experience Shevy so that they can boss him around. Just imagine if your subordinate has more knowledge and experience than you. Wouldn't work out would it? wink wink.</blockquote>
reason, I think there is more to it than experience or the lack of it. My guess would be that it may be more of a financial consideration matter. Keep one thing in mind, IR2 works for a franchised broker while Shevy is a broker.</blockquote>

Trojanman,

You mean IR2 works for a franchise broker while Shevy is a broker working for the franchise IrvineHousingBrokers? ;-)</blockquote>
haha you got me there. =oX

[quote author="reason" date=1239115883][quote author="Trooper" date=1239115575]Yeah, me too....and I feel like my left arm just got ripped off. IHB has been an important part of my life for the past two years...this just sux.</blockquote>

It''s okay, Trooper. I knew this day will come. That the real estate market will be in vogue again. Hey, we can always consider working in the real estate business with IR. You know, cops by night and realtor by day. Hahaha!</blockquote>
mortgage agents on the weekends.

Hello,

I've met and got to know many people from IHB. I think all of the regulars have contributed to build a popular and successful online community together, and from a selfish standpoint, I don't want to see this community be brought down over a few decisions.

A few comments.

1. It's never easy to build a profitable and successful business venture, and (like everyone here) I wish Larry and Zovall nothing but the best and hope this works out for you guys.

2. IHB is a community. Many of us met through IHB and got to know each other quite well over the years. Without it, we would not have forged the relationships/friendships over time. Additionally, we should all try to remember that Larry has spent every day of his life over the last 2+ years posting on the Blog. At least give him some credit in helping many people understand how the real estate market works. I don't know Shevy and I hope he's a good guy. Knowing Larry and Zovall, I don't think they are the kind of people that would pick a bad business partner to work with. Some of us do question and feel for Deuce for not getting involved, but honestly, IHB isn't our business to run. We are not the ones paying the hosting bill, writing content, generating traffic, and setting up the get togethers.

3. If someone is willing to pay IHB for real estate evaluation and handling their home purchase. Then that's a great opportunity for IHB. Why should we question someone willing to pay for a professional opinion. It's no different than paying for a lawyer, accountant, consultant, etc. Most of us who are reading this will probably not need to do consult with IHB anyway. Call Deuce and buy CrackerCakes lunch, and I'm sure you can/will get your answers that way.

4. Last comment. I would not question Larry's integrity or motives. If Larry wanted to profit from IHB, and be greedy about making money, I'm certain he would've made some different decisions a long time ago, nevermind writing the book and posting for free.

My 2 cents.

Vic

This is truly sad. I have had to do my best in managing the damage control of a lot of long time and well respected readers in the past few days. Unfortunately I haven't had much support to help keep people around either. Most have not gone as public as Troop, but there have been a lot more than just her. It's one thing to rid IHB of a poster who involves family, but it is another thing to lose people like Troop or someone who points out that "cathedral ceilings" are not "cathederal ceilings". I think some damage control needs to be done by someone other than me. Taking a step back and realizing what is happening here is needed.

I don't want to lose Troop, and I am saddened that she will probably be gone. Losing Troop is like losing zovall, she was part of the foundation of IHB, and helped make it the community that it has become, and she deserves the same level of respect. She can't be replaced.

I merged Trooper's goodbye thread into this one as it is basically the same thing.

I understand that many of you are upset. But there is only so much of it we can take. Reread the responses in this thread and think about whether you would have put up with them. The sense of betrayal runs both ways.

Keep posting about starting a new blog, forums, etc and I will close this thread. If you want to do that, then leave THIS blog and forum and do NOT use this blog and forum to perpetuate your hate.

It will be sad to see some of you go.

I created these forums for everyone to help everyone. That will continue to be the purpose of the forums.

I think you need to sit back and think about what your saying here.

There is nothing "Magic" or "Godlike" about setting up an Internet Forum.

Its some software, a server, and a little TLC on occasion. You act like its going to church everday. News FLASH: It aint going to make your rich either. Your lucky if it pays for the

electricity via some ads.

What will make you rich is the PEOPLE. Thats the common denominator in business

and in life. HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE. Not about computer skills. Not about turning

what you guys perceive is a viable business with this board/forum because

the hit count got up there after 2 years. ITS THE PEOPLE.

If you have not noticed. About 85% of the longtime users here have voiced their

opinions loud and clear. And you want to call it "Hate". Its your board. So you can say

whatever you want. Edit, Ban, Delete, Blah Blah Blah.

Larry put a ton of time in this thing. WE ALL SEE THAT. But his entire premise

was built on the negative association of fees and realtors, Etc, Etc.

To the point of it being a drumbeat. That attracted all of these people.

They became indoctrinated and to a point almost a "cult" following.

Then on Saturday you rip the fabric of all the indoctrination and the "Cult"

turns a little ugly. Now you want them to drink the very water that for 2 years

they have been told to avoid. IE. Shevy. And when they dont want to drink the water.

And you call it hate. You are very mistaken my friend.

People that post for YEARS everyday get emotionally involved. They are Humans.

Thats the quallity that will make your rich. Understanding Human behavior and

exceeding expectations with services and commitments to integrity in business.

Yes, there is not. Yes, is it the people that make it.

Any more posts about creating another site will be deleted and you will be banned. If you want to discuss this with me further, send me a PM.

I didn't care very much about what you and Larry were getting into prior to this morning. Figured you guys deserved a shot at making a buck... I don't really hang around for blog content anyway. I find it boring mostly and the insights seemed to end quite some time ago. I wouldn't care if turned into a rah-rah RE and rah-rah the new IHB exercise.

Seeing your overdose of comment deletion makes me think that the negative posters might be right and that things are headed south around these parts. I was online last night when most of these deleted posts were made. They were strong and bitter, but not personally or publicly offensive. Like it or not, you and Larry are "public" figures. In America, people take shots at public figures, especially when they are displeased or discouraged with them. IMHO, you and Larry need to have thicker skins if you want to keep people around. Will your venture really be successful if you drive away the core of your participants? Somehow I can't believe alienating your most rabid readership is point 1-b on the ole business plan.

This will pass if you guys 1) help ease the pain of transition - your spin and/or damage control as been weak and/or non-existent and 2) just give it some time. Larry et all on this blog have been bashing realtors for years. Just because you guys have now become realtors, you expect the bashing to stop immediately? Come on, people are not capable of doing 180's like that even if they want to. The realtor thrashing has become so enculturated and in-grained around here that people are reacting to this change at an emotional level. Heck, people that are friendly and social with Deuce still use the word "realtard" and probably don't even think about it...

I agree that the blog as been boring for quite some time. There is only so much rent vs. own analysis a person can read and a lot of it doesn't seem accurate - at least intuitively. Not to mention the tiresome comments of that house is not worth that much - houses are going back to 1920s levels.

IR2 correct if I am wrong, but he is a broker who also works for a franchised broker.

Didn't realize Zovall has been deleting posts until IPO mentioned above. I was wondering why so many deletes.

Zovall, with all respect, it seems to me you are doing most of the damage right now, and your path will bring things to point of no return for this blog, which will be very sad. Discussion on larry 's new venture will fade away when time goes by, however your "soup nazi" behavior will probably drive away more long term readers.

I guess your tone, and Agwee's tone all suddenly changed when a new RE venture has started. I think the word "hypocrite" can now be offically used.

Pls put those posts back.

Here is an excerpt from IR's book bio. I would like to know if it will be revamped. :

<em>"I am not a realtor or a mortgage broker, and my livelihood, though dependent upon the real estate industry, it is not dependent upon facilitating a home-sale transaction. What is presented here is both historical account and unbiased analysis. My observations of the residential real estate market are not tainted by any need or desire to convince anyone they should buy a house.?
