That's exactly what I thought it was! How thoughtful of the builder to include this feature... :)

One excuse that might explain this behavior, and one that makes most sense, is that these photos are being used to close a short sale. With an offer in, the broker may very well be trying to inform the lienholders of what would really be the situation if they took the home back and had to sell it themselves. It is the opposite justification of an "equity sale" (i.e. where sellers have equity still) in trying to lower the perceived value of the home in the eyes of the bank selling the home. Essentially - take this offer... it's the best you're going to get.

Besides, where else would you store a "box of Trout?"

alternatively... is there a big enough market to sustain an un-staging company?

What!? The box of cucumbers sticking out of the bed in the first picture wasn't gross enough for you?

Crackercakes Un-Staging Inc.:

Graph and his business partner, Deuce, are the premier un-stagers in the un-staging world.

They know how to make sure your house will get ridiculed on IHB, and get the attention your un-staged house deserves.

Deluxe package $599 includes: A half day of un-staging from Graph and Deuce himself.*

Premium package $899 includes: A half day of un-staging, plus two hours of no_vas and thrash.*

Platinum package $1299 includes: A full day un-staging, plus three hours of no_vas and thrash, and three hours 909'ing it up Ipoplaya style. (This package is guaranteed to make the bank accept a ridiculous low ball offer or your money back.)*

Spring Special: For an additional $99 per room you can get a full hour of Oscar trash dumping.*

Call now, because this company will need TARP money in five years and Citi will have spent it all and no longer be here to pay it back.

*Materials not included. Additional materials available on a per square foot basis.

At least they like Audrey Hepburn.

The best part is what history tells us of the future...

Aug 17, 2000: Sold $237,000

Dec 01, 1989: Sold $225,000

After commissions and adjusting for inflation, that is about a $100k loss.

And the purpose of this picture is...... ? Heh.

Plus, wouldn't you want a door (not just to hide the color) into a bathroom?
