The thought did cross my mind: How do we know the cashier wasn't set up? Neither "Ching" nor "Chong" have come forward - only their friend, the RA. When the management asks - who are they going to believe - the cashier or Ching & Chong? Admittedly, I once went to a Jamba Juice where they asked for my name. I said, "Shaniqua". The guy wrote "Shaniqua" on the styrofoam cup and sent it down the line to be filled. He called my name, err... Shaniqua... when the order was ready. His manager had eyes as big as saucers and began admonishing him in front of everyone. The worker told him I said to put that name there, which of course, the manager didn't believe because I'm a white lady (plus I look like a nice girl who would never play such a joke.) I came directly forward and admitted it was just a joke - I didn't mean to get him in trouble... he didn't do anything wrong, my bad. But what if I wanted to get the guy in trouble? Or the restaurant? Or want some sort of monetary gain?... especially if Shaniqua was believable because I was black. You just never know. Ya know? Yes, I'm always overly skeptical of everything.
