In the next two years, nearly 2,600 homes in three new subdivisions will appear. New schools will open. And a new commercial district with hotels, shops and restaurants will materialize.
Parasol Park: FivePoint plans to open its next project in January.
The 727-home development west of the Great Park consists of townhomes and detached condominium-style units. The 85-acre development will have an urban feel, Haddad said, and will feature contemporary architecture.
Schools
Portola High School and Beacon Park Elementary are scheduled to open on Aug. 24, each with about 400 students in their first year, said Annie Brown, spokeswoman for the Irvine Unified School District.
Eventually, enrollment is expected to reach 2,400 students at the high school and average 1,000 students at Beacon Park.
In 2019, a third school will open on El Toro land. Like Beacon Park, it eventually will serve kindergarten through eighth grade and have around 1,000 students.
