Any tips lowering electrical bills

A whole house fan will pull in whatever is in the air around your house into your house: neighbor bbq grill smoke, exhaust from gardener's gross polluter truck, marijuana smoke from Paris' neighbor's garage, etc.

Don't forget the chain smoking neighbor

Anyone have solar attic fans?  Do they make much difference?

Not really.  Maybe it's just undersized, but basically, the attic, even with a fan, is still like a car sitting in the blazing sun.  It heats up above ambient temp and slowly warms the whole interior of the attic above ambient.  Then once the sun goes low and the temp drops, it pulls in  air, but it's fighting all that mass that's still at 110F.

We got an attic fan installed in winter and have seen a noticeable difference in the temperature drop on the 2nd floor. Before, the rooms upstairs would be hot and stuffy without the AC on. Much better now with the attic fan. It is not solar though, so will have to see how that impacts the electricity bill.

I have the same issue with having a stuffy/hot 2nd floor and was thinking about getting an attic fan.  Can you please share the model you purchased and how much it cost to install?  Thanks

I don't know the model name. We recently had new attic insulation installed, and the same guys installed the fan. The cost was $350 for material and labor for the fan.
