Woodbury Town Center Store Closing

[quote author="SoCal78" date=1231572140]I was wondering what the fascination with The Counter is. Every time I have driven by it's packed to the brim. Why's it so popular?</blockquote>

I think it's the novelty of paying $10+ for a mediocre burger. I was curious to see how a $10+ burger would taste.

And as for FCP, I wouldn't wipe my ass with that pizza. I can't remember if I plugged this spot in the Dining forum but the closest thing to NYC pizza is Al's NY Cafe in Costa Mesa/Newport(Border) X-streets are Irvine Ave and 17th st. Right next door to the 7-11.

Try Al's and you'll agree with my TP statement... Worst Class Pizza.

The counter tapped into a custom gourmet burger niche, and has the local demographics to support it. Back in Brea we'd dine at Islands, here we eat at The Counter. IMO the burgers at The Counter taste better. I'm saddened that the Thai place closed though. :( That Thai Spice was 10x better than the one on Jeffery.

My brother lives in Irvine and after having FCP near my house, he really wanted to try it by his house. He said the same thing, it just wasn't the same great pizza we have over here. When I lived in CM, my favorite (even when I was a kid) was Nick's.

I like The Counter a lot. The burgers are solid and they have an excellent beer selection. I also like the sweet potato fries and the onion strings.

My biggest gripe was that when they first opened they were occasionally overcooking the burgers. That hasn't happened to me recently, but I do ask for it rare to get it to come out medium rare. It is not a perfect burger. However, I think the pricing is pretty reasonable. Can you get a better deal cooking your own hamburger at home? Sure, but that is true for just about every restaurant.

the counter is good, along with pastagina, very underated places. we love eating and shopping WB TC, there is no one here! We love the short lines and the quick service, we will continue to support the bizs as long as we can...

Pastagina is always empty true. But we usually have to wait a few minutes for a table at the Counter. Then again we usually go Thursday or Friday nights on some other nights when I walk to the gym it does look far emptier. I love being able to walk to the Woodbury Town Center and try to throw as much business there as I can.

So, does TIC subsidize some of these places? Because I can't see how some of them stay in business when they're as empty as they are on the weekends or lunchtime.

The Foot Solutions in Woodbury Town Center closed about a month ago too. I've been remiss in my reporting. They still have a few other locations in Orange County though.

So Ispoke too soon. Since the "Store Closing" signs have been up for a month I assumed Foot Solutions was already closed but they were open for their Closing Sale as recently as yesterday.

I went to the Trabuco Grove Shopping center yesterday to get a pedicure... and Star Nails is gone! I was shocked as they were always so much busier than the nail place in Woodbury Center.

Empty with a "For Lease" sign in the window....

Hey, how is the one in Woodbury Town Center? I have not tried it yet but it's the closest salon to me so I've been thinking of going. Are they any good?

Come on bk, get your nails painted, then you could flaunt some nice open toed sandals at the Home Tour! You've got a great nail place right near your work, they could paint some beautiful flowers on your toes! :p

The firm I worked for had an in house manicurist. One day, I saw her empty a big stainless steel bowl of cloudy foot water in the office kitchen sink, where people put their coffee mugs and dishes. I will not reveal the ethinc background of the manicurist.
