What kind of garage do you prefer?

I like Kensington's plans in CG where the two car garage has this extra 1/2 car space where you can set up a home gym; park an electric car; or in my case, I would set up a man cave. A men's living room where the guys can hang out!

I'm with Bk, ever since this whole garage discussion started, I've taken particular note of how much better looking homes are when 1/3-2/3 of the home's facade isn't a garage, they truly are ugly. I like my 2 car garage that isn't visible from the front, but my in-laws hidden four car garage is even better.

My first preference would be to hide a one door 2.5 car garage in the back with a long driveway siding the home. If my future lot doesn't have enough sq footage, then I guess I will pick a BK one door 2.5 car garage/alley product.

May be some visuals may help the poll.

3 car garage IHO style

I tried to find some 3 car frontal Tuscan or Craftsman house pictures but I can't find any. I want to be fair to depict IHO preferred architcetural styles. Please help.

That would be a variation of "rear garages"

[quote author="irvine_home_owner" date=1237352507]Hey... where's that pic from? That actually looks like a 4-car garage... gimme gimme gimme.

I love you pal so I posted the IHO bonus 4th car and the Airforce One landing strip driveway.

This one is for you IHO

The single car attached garage is great for mom, bringing in kids and groceries, while another 4-8 car detatched garage is for the car enthusiast

BK front is an added bonus

This is basically how my garage is. It has only a two car-wide door, but there's an extra car's worth of space beyond that-you could add an additional one car-wide door and make it a true three car garage if you wanted to.

However, best case scenerio is a bk-like rear garage, although I would like it to be attached to the house and not seperate (edit-like in the photo in bk's post). You need a large lot to pull this off, though, as you use up a lot of space for the long driveway (unless there's an alley).

what about the single door 3-car garage? i'm not really big into trivial details like structural integrity.

I don't care as long as the garage is a locked door to the house that I can open with a button from my car. That is the best function of a garage in my world. When folks start offering houses with back doors that can be unlocked/opened from a button on my keychain, detached garages in the back are A-okay with me.

I've been living in a place with a tandem-garage and it's not that bad.

Although my preference is a 3-car wide garage (mainly for the extra driveway space)... having that front area to store stuff and put the garage-fridge (I think that's a cultural thing) is really convenient.

I could probably live with a 2-car garage as long as it was a little wider and a little deeper to provide storage.

I think it either West Irvine or Harvard Square that had models where the garage was like a 2.5 or 2.25... there was extra side space for storage or a workbench, does anyone else remember this?

This home in NP has a double tandem 4 car garage. You can put a lot of stuff in the rear of that garage. Though no wide driveway.
