I'll go first.

1. Principles of Macroeconomics.

2. Steinbeck.

3. More Steinbeck.

Currently reading Salinger.

Steinbeck is always a good choice and I should reread Salinger.

Grrrr I have never read Vonnegut and I know I should.

Currently I am reading Liars Poker. Gotta love those bond traders and creators.

I also listen to Blink everyday. Yeah I know it's not reading but I have the book too.

Next up is The World is Flat. I have both the audio and the book. Both are daunting and I have had them both for (oh crap!) over a year. Maybe if it wasn't near 3am posting this I would have more time to read.

Almon, I feel your pain. I hope you're on the structuring side and not the *yawn* drafting side.

I'm working on "A Concise History of Japan" in advance of vacation, "Salt," "California Geology," and half a dozen others that I'm half way through. As Graphrix noted, more reading, less posting.

"Who Really Cares"

"The Bull Hunter"

currently "The Black Swan"

graphrix - How do you like "Liars Poker"? I haven't read it yet, but am considering it.

The World is Flat is not a difficult read. You'll enjoy it, and it's likely to change your perspective on the world in at least a small way. Ever since I read it I've been viewing just about everything through the lens of globalization. It's both upbeat and doom-porn material at the same time. The message for bears is that the world is getting better but the US needs to get its ass in gear, pronto.

Here is my current reading list. I always have a book on tape going in my car, but my book reading is more sporadic. Sometimes I will read two books in a week, and sometimes I won't touch a book for 2 months. As you can see from my list, I listen for inspiration, and I read for information; the topics vary widely.

FYI I fixed the links that were dead. For whatever reason the forum doesn't like long links. If you are curious how to fix it with the Amazon links when you copy and paste http://www.amazon.com/Roots-Buddhist-Psychology-Jack-Kornfield/dp/1564553477/ delete anything beyond those last numbers and it will work. Also http://tinyurl.com/ works great too.

awgee - Liars Poker is a fun read as well as educational. It would make a good movie in my mind because it goes into the sleazy side of the business. Some might think that is a fault but without it it wouldn't be as fun if it were just informative. I think some of the stories are exaggerated but I do believe that it may have happened. IIRC I got it on Amazon's marketplace for like $3 so if you can find it for that and even if you thought it was OK you would still think it is worth $3. I am also reading Born to Steal which is more for entertainment and makes the movie Boiler Room look like a bunch of chumps. You can get the hardcover brand new on Amazon's marketplace for under $4 and it is worth it.

oc_fliptrack - Now you really have peaked my interest in The World is Flat. I have watched every show of Thomas Friedman's on the Discovery channel at least twice. I will have to dig into it soon. What is funny is the person who recommended Blink and The World is Flat is now a senior VP over at Laing. He's a smart guy so when he recommended them I bought them that day. I gave him some studies done by Case and Shiller so now he is an even smarter guy.

The book rehashes a bit of the Discovery channel content.

""Thirty little turtles in a bottle of bottled water. A bottle of bottled water held 30 little turtles. It didn't matter that each turtle had a round metal ladle in order to get a little bit of noodles."

1. Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche

2. Walden and Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau

3. Diplomacy by Henry Kissinger

I am taking The Mask of Command by John Keegan with me to Costa Rica tonight, must have some reading material on that long boring flight!

Anyone read Snow Crash? Or Greg Egan's books? How about Ian Banks Complicity?

I think this proves we are really just a bunch of ubernerds.

ROFLMAO!!!!!

Oh sorry about the realtormation marks. Maybe it is because I just finished this classic.

The book never written (yes I'm at home on a Saturday night -- I have no life):

Yeah I have no life either.

oc - It is all your fault for the childish downward spiral of this thread but since you started it:
