I haven't seen a drain like this before.  Is there a special pan needed?  Kind of sticks out a little out of the ground.

That's weird, the drain pans usually have the pipe pointing downwards.  If that sticks out/up then won't the washer crush it!?!  You sure that's not a cap you can take off?

I'm not sure.. I'll have to check it out and ask someone at Lowes.

You should ask Lennar to provide the drain pan.  I got mine from my builder.  Quote Lennar's Everything Included motto.

Ok Lennar said they are putting in a Pan.. I asked if it fits any washer?

We haven't moved our WD yet so I can't give an input.  Our WD are sitting on the drawer pedestals so I don't know if it can work with the drain pan.  It's in my husband's territory.

Our supervisor told us that drain pan will not work with drawer pedestal.  You can put the drawer pedestal but it won't open anymore as it will be blocked by the drain pan.

Wait let me get this straight:  if I want upstairs laundry, I'll get a drain pan that will fill up in about 5 minutes, have front loads without pedestals due to not fitting in the pan, and will break my back twice a week bending over doing laundry?  I never understood why they can't just make the front loaders taller in the first place so you can avoid this problem.

Do most people with upstairs laundry get top loaders?

That's why they should do it old school and make the whole laundry room a drain pan (with the drain in the middle like a shower).

We use front loaders in our upstairs laundry but no pedestals... aren't 80% of Irvine buyers Asian? Pedestals will make it too tall for them. :)

Yeah my last laundry room in WI was setup with a drain in the middle of the room.. then a blocker of some sort at the door just in case.  This house has a drain under the washer but I guess Lennar is supplying me with a Pan.  I have to check it out today

Very good point.  Looks like we will sacrifice the pedestal on the washer (keep it there but not use it).  At least we can still use the one under the dryer.

I sacrificed the drain pan to keep my pedestal and front loader washer.
