2. <a href="http://heartlandsociety.com/">Heartland's Market & Kitchen</a>

Has few menu choices, but very healthy. Also sells organic and vegetarian goodies.

I think my cousin goes to school (Diamond Bar High School) with the owner's kid. I went here recently and thought the prices were very good. $6 combo meals and $3 noodle bowls. Very informal, cafeteria like place with a small organic market area. The location is a little hard to find, most people driving on Valley Blvd probably never notice (or see) it. They're associated with the Great Enlightenment Lotus Society (<a href="http://uslifecamp.web.officelive.com/default.aspx">http://uslifecamp.web.officelive.com/default.aspx</a>), which uses Shinnyo-En's facilities in Yorba Linda.

The food selection here is limited, and mostly Taiwanese vegetarian style dishes. I ordered the combo meal, which came with choice of rice or vermicelli, 2 veggie dishes, and soup. The veggie dishes were lightly seasoned but the soup was quite strong. I recommend eating here during regular lunch hour, they seem to run out of some dishes outside of the "lunch window".

After reading the mostly positive reviews on the restaurant, I decided to dine here last weekend and ordered the vegetarian B?n b? Hu?. I must have came at a bad time, because the employees were visibly tense and pissed off at something. The vibe was quite bad and the noodle was OK. It was my first time eating a vegetarian B?n b? Hu? and thought the lemon grass soup base was a little off. We sat inside and it was too hot, by the outside seating was by Bolsa with all the car traffic and break dust. Ugh.

There's another Vegetarian place down the street, Van Hanh if I'm not mistaken -- it has a "hot table" section up front and a large dining hall in the back. This place is more like a cafeteria than a restaurant, but the prices is cheap and food is decent. Be warned that you'd be charged for ice water here. They have an interesting collection of dishes on the menu, but I usually stick to the soup noodle. For vegetarian, the soup base was quite good. There was a group of people sitting in the back with their laptops, am not quite what they're doing (is there a net cafe in the back?).

Little Saigon was unusually quiet on Saturday, but very busy on Sunday. Went to the new Shun Fat supermarket by Beach & McFadden and saw a Mexican sushi chef selling 2 boxes of sushi for $6 inside. @_@;;;;;; I was kinda scared to try it. This supermarket's frozen section off to the left has tons of vegetarian "fake meat" products. I always thought it was kinda silly, considering all the fresh produce avail, wouldn't you rather eat something cooked fresh and not another tofu product made to look like chicken?

I was very pleased to see a Kikis Bakery near the supermarket (off to the left, in same center). They sell many freshly baked breads daily, and quality is fairly good.

Next veggie place on my list to go is Thuyen Vien in Garden Grove. Will write a report afterwords.

<span style="color: red;">Given the name of the thread, I must assume you are recommending the above mentioned restaurants for their french fries and milkshakes.</span></blockquote>

I still go to In-N-Out for the fries and shakes even though I gave up meat years ago. MMMMMMMMMMM... strawberry milkshake.</blockquote>

I love going to In N Out and getting a grilled cheese (everything but the meat), fries, and water...YUM! And I just found out about the chili peppers they have...those suckers are HOT but DELISH!

I used to eat at Rutabegorz in Fullerton years ago. Loved their "Cockie Leeky" soup with bread on the side, and "The Heap" sandwich.
