The joy of dealing with EDD for unemployment insurance

It's been over a month since I've been laid off and I have yet to see a single unemployment insurance payment.

Called in to ask what the issue was, said I didn't look for work in last week of April so they have to setup an interview to ask why. (No interview was actually setup or communicated to me, I had to call in).

I told the EDD agent politely that I was still employed by the company that week and, EDD had already sent me a letter indicating that I'm not eligible for unemployment benefits for that week due to earned income.

EDD agent tired to withdraw claim for that week and process my latter claim... no work. Must setup an appointment and speak with someone to review.

EDD agent put in request for interview... and cannot get date/time from their system. I "may" be notified by Monday with my appointment date/time which is usually in 2 weeks. Eh?

So EDD already sent me a letter indicating that I am not eligible to receive UI benefits for that week, but they cannot process my claim request because I didn't look for work in that week, but I was still employed by my previous employer that week? Eh?

I am just shocked you got to speak to an actual live human being.

It's too long ago for me to remember the specifics, but when my daughter was born I had a similar clusterfuge of a time getting paid out for parental leave.

No benefits for you, so that we can fund Trump's upcoming birthday/military parade.

Sad to see what our government has become.
A sign of TDS is when you blame orange man for something he has nothing to do with. The EDD is administered by the glorious state of California.

The irony here is the EDD paid out over $20B of fraudulent claims during the pandemic, but now they're having trouble administering a legitimate claim.

Sorry you're having trouble with the EDD momopi. Good luck.

Yes, EDD is administered by CA but does receive federal grants. Take a look what’s going on with our federal money:

I called on Friday afternoon and didn't have to wait long. Monday mornings are very bad (long wait) and you need to call in as soon as they open.
