So do self-driving trucks or the automatic kiosks pay the tax?
Or is it talking about the owner of those paying the tax?

Neither in a VAT system.

VAT is a consumption tax. Whoever consumes the goods pays the VAT tax at every stage.

So person A farms coffee beans and sells to Person B for $20.  Person B will pay 10% VAT = $2

Person B process the coffee beans / add in his special mix and sells to Coffee Shop  for $50. Coffee shop will pay 10% VAT = $5

Then whoever ends up buying a cup of coffee at the shop will also pay 10% VAT.

There is different ways to do it...and exemptions can be made but I think Andrew Yang's proposal is to put on the ones who primarily benefit from the transactions.  For example, the trucking companies who plans on using self-driving trucks.

Amazon could subject to a VAT that gets scaled up...you can have no tax if you participate in like 0 to 50 annual transactions...and scale up as the transactions get more.

Yeah. Can grant exemptions to certain things. Scale up on luxury goods and scale down on consumer staples etc.  The major point being because it's a consumption tax, it's much harder to dodge.

Every European country has a VAT. Some are very high exceeding 20%.

I think UBI funded by VAT ( Yang's proposal) is brilliant. The model we are in does not work. We should incentivize production not penalize production (like income tax)

We shouldn?t tax anything else or raise taxes until the government stops wasting money. We don?t need to spend $800 billion a year on defense. They need to reign in healthcare costs. They need to get out of the student loan guarantee/forgiveness bbusiness, etc.

Our defense budget is socialist welfare program for the defense contractors

I know, I have consulted for a couple of them . Horrendous people, always looking to gouge the military .

Yes...the the giveback is the UBI.

Andrew Yang 2020 wants to reduce college cost/eliminate student loan debt and single payer so that people can start businesses and hire people without burden.

1. He needs to know the base.
2. Are his concepts easy for Americans to understand?
3. Eliminate student debt? So the American taxpayer will have to bail out the people that went to a high price university that couldn?t afford it? (From for profit online universities to private universities) Not going to fly.

I am going to guess that you are not familiar with Yang's platform ( judging from your posted questions).

Maybe he will not be the nominee, but he is the best candidate. I am 100% convinced of that after watching Yang's debate/discussion with Ben Shapiro. That is how political conversation should be. I am tired of labels and identity politics. I am reminded of this every time I  turn on the TV and see AOC or log into TI and see Morekaos posts.

I don't care that he likely will not win. I will keep donating to his campaign and help push his ideas mainstream.

Agreed.  This is the idealistic stage of the election...I will get realistic in a year.

I went to his page. Sounds like a bail out to me.

If you can?t afford to go to blank expensive college. Then don?t go there. How about go to an in state college that?s potentially affordable?

It's not about fault...it's about solution.  Student loan debt is a huge burden and drag on the economy...you can pretend that it is not and just keep blaming or solve it.  People can't pay their student loans...are you going to burden them for the rest of their lives...to what ends?

There are layered solutions...one of which is to encourage people to take alternate education routes.  College is not for everyone and should not be for everyone.  The UBI would also free up people who feel like they have to go to college and pursue other venture.

He is also pushing colleges to reduce administrative cost, which is the biggest driver of tuition.

You can't solve this problem in one day...but you can address the existing problem and then push to eliminate it.

Just forgive a lot of the debt and then make the schools cut administration.  Allow student loan discharge via bankruptcy etc.

Plus...each person is going to get an extra $12K a year tax free...that can go to pay off a lot of debt.
https://www.yang2020.com/policies/student-loan-debt/

He has 80+ platform proposal...like actual proposals.  Good stuff.

Nope. I touch crap. If you can?t afford it. Don?t go there. If you get a loan for college. Then you must pay it back.

Allow bankruptcy to forgive student loan? (Slippery slope)

Again...you have a huge student debt problem...people already have the debt and cannot pay it back.  It's not going to get better by ignoring it.

Student loan is the only debt not forgivable under bankruptcy....it's pretty ridiculous.  I get the potential effects of it but government is already back those loans and/or subsidizing them.  I don't see why student loans should be special.

College should be cheaper and more streamline and not be the only path to job as it basically sold now.

The solution is get a job or another job. I think many have high standards and won?t take a job. (I went to blank college and won?t work there.)
Save money and don?t eat out to pay off your loan. Do you need a nice ride when you graduate? That new car payment could be used to pay off the student loan. (Now that?s common sense.)

There is calorie counter for food.

Maybe we need a break even analysis for potential college students.
College is x amount and it will take you blank years to pay it off. (I get it not everybody is good in math. Like I?m not good in art. But with the disclosure it will help people understand the total college cost.)

And how does that resolve the $1.65 trilllion in student debt already out there?  About half of which are in some sort of deferment, default, or forebearance.  Who is benefiting from this level of debt on the economy?
https://studentloanhero.com/student-loan-debt-statistics/

Calorie counter is great but no sure that helps people that already obese and suffering from medical problems.
