If Irvine's Mexican food drought continues, try either one of these. Both are roughly 8 miles South on the 5, but well worth the drive.

Same as the one in Laguna Beach, only closer to Irvine. Terrific food. Can't recommend enough.

100 yards Just across the street. It's where the Latino's buy their tacos (hope I've used the right term...) . Lot's of choices and authentic flavors.

Baja only has crispy potato tacos. Does Mesa have crispy tacos? Have to go down to Casa Franco, Flamingos, Rodrigo’s or the fast food type Ronaldo’s or X-ertos in South County.

Or Cali Tacos.

Ronaldo's off La Paz and the 5? Try my suggestions. They are closer (Alicia and the 5) and better Yelp ratings.

Taco Mesa is the Bomb also! Soylent Red isn't fond of them because they are "too authentic" AKA "spicy". I'd go there daily if not for warnings from my cardiologist.

Crispy tacos? Taco stand is newer so haven’t had a chance to try them.

Ronaldo’s opened a closer location off El Toro road.

I also like the rolled tacos there and Rodolfo’s (El Toro and the 5).

Taco Stand doesn't offer crispy tacos.

Perlas across the street does. You get to choose. Their Chili Relleno is MMmmm MMmmm Good.

Franco’s Famous or El Cortez for crispy tacos. El C reminds me of the now closed Ranchero in Pasadena I grew up on - we called it the Dirty Cantina
