Real Housewives of OC update

So, is Bravo just not paying these people enough? I get that Jeanna has a divorce mucking up her financial works, but a whole lot of these crew are having serious issues with money since the show started.

Makes me think the producers are brilliant and had an incling about some hard-core "living beyond means".

[quote author="bltserv" date=1252012842][quote author="C Delroy Spuckler" date=1251896332][quote author="bltserv" date=1251892205]Its an older 360. He has had it for about 4 years now.

If you cant afford one of these cars outright and pay cash when you buy.

You got no business owning one.

It will get repossessed soon enough. Once you get past 120 days. I dont care how good you are.

The Repo Man will get it out of your garage while you are in the shower.

Its all about making a buck. And a repo like this is worth some cash.

Article says it was a 1989 Ferrari. They didn't make the 360 until 1999. Maybe the article is off by a decade. If its '89, you are talking a 348 or 328. (low end Ferrari line went 328->348->355->360) I'll give you credit though that you can tell a 360 from a 328 ;) Either way, my hats off to the Mercedes dealer who drives the Ferrari. ;) Honestly, I would have pegged Simon as more the Testarossa or 348 Spyder guy.

A lot of exotic owners don't buy their cars outright. I can name at least one former high end OC car dealership where they were doing a fair amount of leases. The exotic business has changed a ton since the internet bubble. Clients used to be athletes, musicians, and investment bankers. dotcom made young people rich... additionally it changed their driver profile... these guy wanted to (**gasp**) actually drive their exotics (exotic reliability has gone up dramatically since 1999... Porsche was actually was highest rated a few years back for initial quality/satisfcation... ahead of Lexus and all). Younger owners, means people willing to stretch themselves a bit more.

Anyways, I digress...

Let's say he bought a '99 360 4 years ago. '99 was the first year 360... not something overly desirable in a used exotic. Even though they keep the same model designation, they typically upgrade its specs every 2-4 years... the first year models are typically POS and have mechanical issues. First year production models are hot cars, so the allocation goes to loyal customers, guys who flip their cars every 2 years. If he bought it 5-6 years old, he's the 3rd owner. Buying in 2005, the 430 is already announced and/or out... so he's buying the "old model"... probably paid $150-$170k for it.

Point being... while you might see "Ferrari", on the pecking order, if he's buying a first year 360 in 2005... he's buying a less desirable used car... he's making this choice probably because he got a good deal (AKA price was important).

Doesn't surprise me he financed it.

Turns out Simon owns a 1989 Mondial. It was originally red then he had it pianted black. And from what my friend says. When they painted it black they did a really poor job.

He was driving a leased E-classs as well as a GL for the Mrs. and the kids

All those bills and little if any income coming in. No Bueno.

Adios Ferrari.

Seriously... who do these people think they are? He was a CAR SALESMAN.... and he has three cars all over $60k? I know juniors in high school with better financial management skills than this.

(disclaimer. I have nothing against car salesman, but unless you're the Jon McGonigle of car sales. oh wait...)

The producers did not ask Jeana back for this season. Rumor is that the "stars" get paid about $70,000 per season. My guess is that the more accurate amount is about half that.

Ick... the Mondial has to be one of the uglier Ferraris ever made... Below is the convertible... the coupe is even worse.

Seriously... dude worked at a car dealership, buys a Ferrari, paints it, and gets a crappy paint job?

There is just so much that is wrong with this whole story, that I won't even get started.

"Other cast members on ?The Real Housewives of Orange County? have reported earning $120,000 or more per season on the popular Bravo reality TV series. But the circumstances regarding the Curtins? compensation or finances are unknown."

But it also says:

One of my friends has known Simon for years. She bought her first Benz from him.

Also know one of Jeff`s (The guy that passed away)good friends. That same $ 120K number was what I was told as well.

And that covered the entire family for the entire season. And you signed away all your rights to any profit

from personal activity/appearances that were related to the show.

And I am sure they are taking out witholding taxes upfront. So its not that much money.

According to the OC Register... she might not have just moved her stuff out when she was evicted...

Curious if anyone knows the whole story here... sounds like a spat between the owner and renter, curious if this is just tit for tat?

If it's true, that's a pretty bold move to make off with items from the prefurnished residence. The owner has filed a criminal report for grand theft!

You know, you could lock me in a hotel room for two days with a case of good bourbon and I still could not have come up with a better Season Five plotline than the last weeks worth of actual news regarding the Curtin family and other OC Housewives.

Arrests, short sales, foreclosures, car repossesions, multiple evictions, grand theft, kids swearing at newspaper reporters. You just can't make that kind of stuff up.

I've said it before, but I just can't wait for Season Five to see how Bravo addresses the complete implosion of their OC Housewives franchise.

And there are those who really do think that much of this has been staged in order to get a great Season Five. I just don't think the people involved would have agreed to be publicly humiliated in this way voluntarily. I just think that they truly are THAT stupid.

Is this something a parent wants their child to aspire to? Reality show 'star'??

I hate to say this but I will because she is an adult now. The eldest daughter appeared to be an unmotivated, talentless brat. Perhaps they've lowered their expectations for at least one of their daughters. Nah, who am I kidding; they just want fast, easy money.

What is this fast, easy money you are talking about... and how do I get some?

I heard that the new housewife Alexis Bellino is renting a place now and selling her old house in Newport. This is reportedly the house

http://www.redfin.com/CA/Newport-Beach/2672-Circle-Dr-92663/home/3245663

At the bottom of the sales ad, it has:

SELLERS ARE OPEN TO A TRADE OF A SMALLER HOME IN THE NEWPORT BEACH OR SURROUNDING AREAS. SELLER IS EXPERIENCED IN CREATIVE FINANCING AND WOULD ENTERTAIN ANY CREATIVE FINANCING OFFERS

Desperation, I guess?

I wouldn't necessarily say so. He bought another property (with an active NTS) on 6/25/2009, and another one on 3/25/2009 (also with active NTS).

688 S COAST HWY, LAGUNA BEACH, CA 92651 (commercial property)

20202 E FRANK LN, ORANGE, CA 92869 (single family residential)

I'm guessing someone who is "desperate" would not be laying down $1.2mil in property purchases in the past few months.

Their home has been on and off the market for 2+ years. I'm guessing they might just realize the market for that home is very small and inventory is very high, so its not a real liquid asset.

So he is the one who bought the property on Frank Lane. He won't be getting offers at that price, and he will be losing money on it when it does sell. I would say he might be more desperate than you think. Especially if you drive down Frank Lane, that home is the nicest on the street, and that isn't a compliment.
