Poll: Lakers v. Magic FINALS

I know it's crazy but I do tend to bet on a team when I think the team I am betting on will win. I'm a nutter like that I guess. That strategy does help with my parlays though. I found that selecting teams to win that I thought were going to lose wasn't working out real well...

Sure... but this isn't Vegas and big money isn't on the line (hence the term "Gentleman's Bet")... we should be betting EVERY game just for the heck of it... it's for bragging rights if anything else.

I want the Magic to win the title... but I'm realistic... if I really thought they were going to win... I would be sending usctrojan up to Vegas and placing a big one on Dwight Howard instead of making drink bets on the IHB.

Big money was going on the Lakers for the last game. The spread went from Orlando -2.5 to Orlando -1 by the tip. The second half bet yesterday went from Lakers -3 to Lakers -4.5. The sportsbooks got their arses handed to them by the Lakers.

You should have bet it in Vegas...before the series started you would have gotten 4.5 to 1 the Lakers winning in 5 games.

OC 1 LA 0

I still don't understand why they need to riot... when does violence and mayhem = pride and celebration?

I'll pretend me and IPO bet on every game... so I owe him 3 rounds of Duffs.

The Magic should realize this was probably their best chance to see the trophy, I doubt they will make the finals again anytime soon. Losing two at home is embarrasing... especially when one is a rout.

So when will Lebron get his? Will it be with the Cavs?

I think Orlando and Cleveland will be battling it out in the East for a number of years to come.

Both are young teams. For Orlando, Courtney Lee and Howard are very young and should get materially better. Jameer is a bit older at 27 but not even at his basketball prime yet. Lewis is only 30. For Orlando, much will depend on what they do with Hedo. They have shown that the team as constructed can win it all in the East. Boston is getting older by the minute and their horizon is real short. In a couple more years, they'll probably have to blow that team up and start over.

Personally I think Orlando should let Hedo walk (or maybe get something back via a sign-and-trade) and use their cash on a more defensive oriented wing player of maybe a 4 that can still shoot the triple. Ron-Ron is a free agent. Imagine Orlando defensively with Artest and Howard?! They could sign Lamar or Marion to play the 4 position, moving Rashard back to the 3. Both Lamar and Marion are much better defensive players than Hedo but can still stretch the D... Rasheed Wallace would be a good defensive 4 to play along side Howard as well.

Cleveland is also pretty young, but 2 of their 3 bigs in the rotation aren't getting it done any longer. With Ben Wallace over and Big Z getting too old and slow, Cleveland is left with an offensively-limited Andy V. as their only decent big man. They need lock him up and get another big to contend with Dwight Howard. The rumored Shaq deal would be a good near-term answer until Howard develops some range. If he can take Shaq out of the paint via a 12-15 footer, he'll kill him... If that trade goes down, Howard should start shooting 200 15-footers every day.

My prayer is that Ariza and Odom will take a little less than market to stay with the Lakers and they keep the team essentially in-tact. LO made $14M this year and Ariza made $3M. If LO would take $8M they could pay Ariza $6M and still save bucks on salary and luxury tax payments vs. this year... If Kobe were smart, he'd opt out via early termination option and re-sign with a back-loaded contract to free up more cash to spend over the next few seasons. With room to improve for guys like Bynum and Farmar and keeping a core of Kobe, Pau, Ariza, and LO, the Lakers could contend for a championship every year for the next 3-4 years.

If you could trade Kobe for anyone else in the NBA... who would you trade for?

(sorry... still not a Kobe fan... especially after his press conference and "I'm the coach" antics during the series)

Lebron, in a nano second... LBJ with Pau, Lamar, Ariza, Bynum etc. is a 72 win team and no more than one loss per series, maybe total shut-outs, all the way through the playoffs.

Probably would trade him straight up for D-Wade or Melo too given their respective ages vs. Kobe.
