Palin will do anything for attention

[quote author="Nude" date=1247035662]Every time I think about coming back here, I force myself to read this thread. Rather than discuss the very real impact of California's budget problems,</blockquote>

That nightmare for the voters is induced by the ballot box. We've been morons for 30 years and it's coming home to roost. There isn't much to discuss that is different now than in 1988.

<blockquote>Obama's legislative agenda,</blockquote>

Which is unstoppable because the GOP has totally collapsed (as a result of their own ineptitude), to the point where they are powerless to oppose anything. So much for Karl Roves vision of a generation of dominance. Not much to talk about, unless you want to take potshots at hypocrites who walked the moral superiority path during Monica Lewensky, but can?t seem to keep their own pants zipped up. Still, too easy ? like shooting fish in a bucket and boring.

<blockquote> or the befuddling responses of the administration to unfolding events in North Korea, Honduras, and Iran...</blockquote>

Do you really find the administrations responses befuddling? There is something to discuss, maybe. Do tell and start another thread.

<blockquote>you seem quite happy to attack the (soon-to-be-former) Governor of a small state, one in which none of you reside, like moronic children ringing a doorbell just to hear the chimes.

You're completely stupid if this amuses you in any way.</blockquote>

What I find amusing is the citizens of Alaska are almost as dumb as the ones in California when it comes to selecting Governors who are all bark and no bite. I guess we're all suckers for a Cult of Personality.

<blockquote> Whether you fancy yourself a "tell-it-like-it-is" asshat, or a defender of the unjustly accused, you are allowing the debate to be framed around the actions of a woman who has absolutely NO POWER to do anything.</blockquote>

Sarah Palin is a walking example of the double-standard that has become the GOP. And like it or not, last Wednesday she was the front runner for the 2012 POUTS election. If she wasn?t enjoying the attention, she certainly wasn?t doing anything to tamp it down.

<blockquote>This kind of behavior not only keeps people from posting, it's exactly the kind of personally abusive tactic that keeps good people from running for office.</blockquote>

I would hope this is exactly what keeps unqualified people from running for office. From experience, I can tell you it's a grinding job where everyone hates you - even if you're popular and not trying to change much of anything. Actually do something and people get all fired up and really hate your guts. The petty backbiting comes with the territory and is just a warm-up for the real fights that wait.

The only thing glamorous about politics is Election Night victory parties.

<blockquote> Grow up.</blockquote>

And nice to see you around too. Some of us (me included) miss you a lot.

I know I'm going to sound like a snob for saying this, but when I hear the luddites and flat earthers, I just know that there is no point in trying to have an intelligent discussion. That being said, I do respect true conservatives' views and believe that they just see the world differently than those of they label a liberal. My husband is far more amused by the Palin thing than I am and I have told him I don't want to discuss her any more. He says I'm the liberal, but frankly I find her to be insignificant and not worthy of this much of our time together.

TrRenter has a different view of the world and I disagree with his/her perception, but he/she isn't a flat earther and from what I can see isn't exactly a Palin fan. This is far different than someone who says they like Sarah and will buy her book. There are a number of us here that agree politically and view the world from a different perspective than the conservatives and when we hear someone say they like Palin and are eager to read her memoirs, it's all over in terms of any healthy conversation or debate. The divide is just too great and frankly, it's just not worth having the debate. 4 walls isn't suddenly going to see Sarah the way we do and we aren't going to bring him or her over to being a fan of intellectualism.

I have to say that TrRenter changing their avatar was such a blessing for me. That toothless dude grossed me out to no end and I'm so glad I don't have to see it again.

And btw, I HIGHLY doubt that No_Vas went running to the mods. It's not his style and I have to commend him for biting his tongue as much as he has because of his respect for the mods.

OMG!! That one drives me crazy too! I like his/her comments, but the motion of the avatar is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Sorry Sugar, but I have to say it.

I think I commented long ago about how disgusting that avatar was. I haven't really been bothered by Sugar's, but now that you guys mention it, it will probably start bothering me. That said, I am also happy to see a post from Nude, he just keeps things going and keeps people thinking. It's been a bit too strange around here with most everybody agreeing with each other. With the exception of a crazy who shows up and gets banned quickly, I think no_vas, tr, and Nude could keep me entertained. However, I think that we are moving to a point where most of us can agree on the irrelevance of Palin. Let's get over it, she's an idiot, nothing more to see.

The flat earth, luddite comment is a slam plain and simple. You do not agree with me you must also believe machines are bad and the earth is still flat, fight progress. That makes the assumption that you are progressive and I must be regressive.

I am not a fan of Palin, I thought she was a bad choice for VP.

<blockquote>TrRenter has a different view of the world and I disagree with his/her perception</blockquote>

I am a he. And it is a shame you don't agree with my perception. My perception, which keeps getting lost, is that of ownership and responsibility. I am also high on use the same standards when discussing people.

I detest every Democrat that had the power to block Bush and didn't and now points their fingers at Bush. Every Democrat who calls Bush a complete moron should take some serious issue with their Democratic leaders for doing anything Bush wanted done. When I deal with a moron I ask them what they would do and then do the opposite, or at least investigate fully what the Moron wants to do. We have all worked or dealt with a Moron before. Could you imagine the moron coming up with a "great Idea" then you decide to go along and it fails. The first thing you would be asked is why would you not verify or check that the moron was right? Thats why we have checks and balances folks. Did the Dems forget they had that power?

I am against what I consider MAIN STREAM media bias towards one party. I consider it wrong when a newspaper, reporter, TV anchor man or anyone "reporting" the news is biased toward either party. I think they should have to announce their party affiliation prior to the "reporting they do. Somewhat like after a debate you have "analysist" breaking down the debate. They put Joe Blow republican as a caption. Well you can pretty much guess Joe Blow Republican is going to say how great the Republican did. In other words if there is a bias the public should know. That includes Fox and Rush.

<blockquote>He says I?m the liberal, but frankly I find her to be insignificant and not worthy of this much of our time together.</blockquote>

I agree. I don't see how Palin is more news worthy then Korea, Iran, unemployment, credit card defaults, the acceleration federal goverment spending etc.

There have been two things on the news MJ and Sarah Palin. John and Kate were probably so happy that the spotlight was moved off of them.

[quote author="trrenter" date=1247090812]So I guess changing the avatar to the fat guy in the thong bathing suit is out.</blockquote>
Why does everyone on this forum have pictures of me?

And for our continued entertainment. I will post the Letterman top 10 when it comes up on YouTube later.

Well, last night Letterman's Top 10 list was "messages left on Sarah Palin's answering machine." Number 10: "<span style="color: red;">Hi, it's George W. Bush, why didn't anyone tell me resigning was an option</span>." Number six: "It's Letterman, are we still cool?" And the number-one message on Sarah Palin's answering machine: "Hey it's McCain, who would have thought you'd retire before I did."

Maybe Palin resigned because:

<blockquote>An inter-continental ballistic missile, typically designed for nuclear weapons delivery, has a range of over 3,500 miles.

That would allow the missile to reach Alaska or to strike U.S. bases on the Pacific island of Guam. </blockquote>

<a href="http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=7732196&page=1">North Korean Missles can reach Alaska</a>

Pesky North Koreans are probably the reason.

When the Iraq war started, I was more concerned about Russia and China. I'm still concerned about Russia and China, and you can add North Korea to the list. The missile tests and recent cyber attack scare the crap out of me.

EDIT: to correct misspelled word.

Never say never:

<blockquote><strong>Palin says she's not leaving politics</strong>

WASHINGTON ? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she's not only staying involved in national politics, but she plans to jump back into the national scrum when she leaves office at the end of the month.

The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she plans to write a book, campaign for political candidates from coast to coast ? even Democrats who share her views on limited government, national defense and energy independence ? and build a right-of-center coalition.

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said during an interview published Sunday in The Washington Times.

</blockquote>

You just got to love the GOP and its "Best Candidates" these days.

They are very impressive to say the least.

Time to wake up the good old Sarah Palin thread from the dead.

Looks like our friends at Faux News are up to their old tricks again.

They dont call it Propoganda for nothing.

Nothing like some selective editing to make the crowds look a little bigger for Sarah and her book.

Problem is. That footage is from the 2008 Presidential Campaign.

Iraq? Iran? What's the difference...nuke them both.

Gotta admit she does look good in running shorts.

I think you liberals are jealous because all your women look like Hillary Clinton.

trrenter...I can't believe you used that picture of Palin...that is so sexist...

BTW: I prefer my governmental representatives to have brains rather than looks.

Not in the context of my post!!!! I am a big advocate of physical fitness and I am an avid reader of Runners world which is where I got this picture.

Wink ;) Wink ;)

And as far as brains rather then looks we lost out on that with Clinton. (You can pick a Clinton)

She's selling her book, making appearances for other candidates, and generally cashing in on her being a VP candidate. And that's as far as she'll go. She might win the clown shoes caucuses in Iowa with help from the Democrats looking to help Obama, but she can't carry any primary on her own against anyone with any experience. And, aside from McCain touting her a such and her own self-identification, I don't see any thing in her record that shows she's much of a conservative when governing either.

It's endlessly amusing to see the Left fall all over themselves to attack her though. It's almost like they are afraid of the very idea of a popular Republican.

Its more fun to watch the Conservatives just go stupid over a woman who has the intelligence

of a small child. But thats typical. Anything thats above self gratification takes extreme effort

for most conservative men. Better to marry a dumb woman who they can easilly challenge intelectually.

I find that most of my conservative friends have wives or significant others that have more in common

with a houseplant than a woman with any type of higher education.
