Obama/Clinton/MCain Position on Housing Issues

Here is a nice summary of where the candidates stand on housing related issues.

Prof, For the long term, I like McCain's proposal....Clinton just wants to delay the inevitable for another 5 years.

Hillary is even scarier because she is in bed with Wall Street and has no credibility.

1) she's from NY and will not do anything to regulate or interfere with Wall Street's ability to make money as this would hurt NY.

2) look who she want's to appoint to her "blue-ribbon" comission... Mr Greenspan who's lax regulation of Wall Street investment banks and the mortgage lenders lead to this crisis (who now is trying to deny everything in his book tour) and a CFO from a Wall Street investment bank who certainly would be against regulations.

Personally, I would have approved of her if she wanted to bring back Mr. Volker but fat chance of that happening.

Sometimes I daydream that dems can't vote either..

Dems never offer any usefull solutions, only bailouts to every poor injured party because bleeding hearts demand that everyone be made whole by the Goverment.

I just wish we could get the religious right out of the Repulican party and get back to proper regulation and fiscal disipline. Too many pigs at the trough have corrupted the entire system.

the problem with republicans like you said they're no longer fiscal conservatives. the term "conservative" these days seems to only refer to social conservatives. neither of the major parties is really for fiscal discipline.

but imo the bigger problem with the conservative movement is its goal is merely maintaining the status quo. liberals want to move the world in one direction and conservatives simply want to prevent that. so over time, we slowly move toward the left whether we like it or not. anyone that actually wants to turn back the clock is labelled as crazy, i.e. ron paul.

Oh yeah?!!! Well I've got news for you! There many Thousands of us (well, about 1500) spread all over Beach Cities in Southern CA, mostly in the Pubs, but we could easily take America back within a week, or maybe a fortnight depending on our Beer supply.

The only thing stopping is where do we put 250 million Prisoners?

I'll get back to you once we figure that (minor obstacle) out :red:

Edit: There are tons of us in Florida too, we have you surrounded :coolsmirk:

That's why I'd like to start "The Realist Party." It's core beliefs would branch from fiscal conservatism and social/personal freedoms. If I were President (and founding member of The Realist Party) and someone approached me with a problem, I'd say to them..."What's the reality of the situation." No sugar coating politically correct bull sh*t.

Amen brother,

For starters, lets get a realistic approach to healthcare reform.

Realist principals would be 1) everybody needs to be covered and 2) total spending needs to be capped at 10-12% of GNP.

From there, all kinds of things would follow.

First, imposing cost limits thoughout the system would mean 1) the system couldn't afford to allow people to sue and get tens of millions in compensation. 2) hospital and pharmacutial costs would have to be strictly controlled 3) administrative costs would have to be severly cut 4) you couldn't allow for profit health plans or hospitals etc, etc, Only when you start with realistic limits can you come up with comprehensive solutions. The current candidates proposals wouldn't work because they are not starting from the right place.

Shek..

Although you seem to have a lot to say and are very passionate about your postitions, I hate to tell you this, but you are just ingorant.

For starters, as I started my post, from a realistic persctive, you have to look at how healthcare is delivered successfully in the rest of the world. You can watch this weeks frontline on www.pbs.org where health care systems in Sweden, Japan, Germany and Tiawan were all compared and to be real with you, the USA is very lacking. To quote star trek "the good of many outweigh the needs of the one". No other country allows lawsuits for millions, in fact, no other country allows punatative damages, that is unique to the USA and most countries refuse to enforce the USA punative damage verdicts. Yet care there is better. Doctors don't show up drunk, maybe numbnuts like you go to work drunk but your statement isn't even worth repeating.

The current system is FUBAR, everyone know that, only by starting with goals and limits can a solution be found. You have to look at what the rest of the world is doing and doing better. Comments like yours belong in the dumpster.

After reading skek's (spell check hates your name) post, I think IHB should have a snark (spell check is stupid, it doesn't know snark) trophy button as well as a thank you button. We could also have a snark ranking, much like post count ranking. People like awgee would be a snark master, and newbies could be snarkless.

And, today skek would have climbed the ranks rather quickly, because I know he would get a snark trophy from me.

That was a snarktastic rant. All skek had to do was post pictures of the drunk doctor and he would automatically become a snark master.

.jpgs FTW!
